Yesterday I found my first ascended weapon, dropped from Tequatl. It’s a wupwup (celestial) prefix, and as a thief using d/d mainly, I went for the dagger.

Now my question is, is the consideribly nice damage difference between exotic and ascended worth the loss of Power? This way I lost 58 power and 22 precision (prec. isn’t a big deal I think), but my main hand damage went up from 924-981 to 970-1030, plus I placed a superior power of force (+5% weapon damage) to my new dagger. Used to have a Superior Sigil of Air before. Offhand is always 5% crit chance.

Rest of the gear:
full berserker set (exotic) with beryl orbs (power, crit damage, vitality)
accessories: almost full berserk (power, prec, crit damage, 18 vitality for a lil bit lower precision). Full ascended, plus ascended berserker quiver.

Nearly 70 views, not a single “yeah I think I worth it and here is why” or the other version. Thieves forums at it’s best. Either dead, or wizards come here to complain.

No offense, I think it’s a terrible idea. Spamming things is what thief class is about. Either hate it and move on or like it and play the game.

Just another noob thief…

Weapons should always be zerk, no exceptions. The difference from exos to ascended definitely adds up, especially if you get everything else to ascended (armors+trinkets). Considering ascended weapons are cheaper now, I see no reason not to get it, unless you have like 5+ characters and have no time to get ascended stuff for your characters.

SBI – Thief and the occasional Guardian & Warrior.

I’m going to tell you how to compare so you don’t have to ask about stuff like this. Google search for “gw2 buildcraft” and follow the link. Click the thief symbol up at the top. Put in your old weapon, sigils, armor, runes/orbs, and traits. Now look to the right side where it has all your stats. At the bottom there should be a number called effective power. Write it down. Now go back to your weapons and put in the celestial dagger and it’s sigil. Now compare the effective powers and whichever is higher will have the higher DPS. And just for reference effective power is not dps. Effective power is good for comparing different stats on armors to find out what combination is best. Effective power becomes invalid when you change traits or skill rotations.
