Guild Wars 2

This is my second ’great game ’thread. Make no mistake; I absolutely LOVE Guild Wars 2. It is without equal. It beats to a bloody pulp every other MMO out there. I only started playing about three weeks ago and in that time I have become addicted. My wife, friends and even my brother (who has always hated MMOs up until now) are now playing and they love it too.

I started with a human warrior but decided on a whim to try out an Asura Thief. Amazing. It is so much fun. The dev(s) who created Rata Sum should get a digital art award or something. The whole Asura territory is beautiful!

Once again, I love the dynamic event system. No more stupid fetch-quests that exist without meaning or purpose. I actually feel like I am changing the world with every event! The story is awesome too. I love the way the Asura ‘power-station’ arc ties into the narratives of the other zones.

Anyway, I have posted another video of my me and my wife playing the game together. Thought I’d include it in this post

asura is good for pvp/wvw because they are harder to see and click
Anet says the click-box is the same size, but gl getting anyone to believe that.
However, being smaller definitely makes it harder to see telegraphing animations, so they don’t know what you’re going to do as easily
wait until at least level 40 to decide how much you like a profession. and I do recommend trying out several. worst case; you’ll know you love the thief more than the others.

Thanks for sharing again. Your videos always make me grin. Love the enthusiasm and the comments. I agree, Asuras are a lot of fun and their city is amazing.

To Azreell…I assure you I am part of no conspiracy. I just really like this game and I am frustrated that it took me so long to give it a go. As for scripted…um, don’t know what to say to that :P

The thief plays very similar to most other RPGs from a combat resource perspective, I’m very comfortable with the classic resource systems of RPGs where you have to manage energy or mana.

That resource system and having the option to manage my tools in that way is why it’s one of my favorite classes. I hope they introduce more resource systems when they add new classes to the game.

Finally some1 positive on this forums.I have thief too and its most fun class by far,its hard to master it if you play D/D but if u do u will have lots of fun with it.I agree also Gw2 is 1 of best MMO’s out there.

You like the asura thief? Roll an asura engineer. You’ll be ’sploding stuff and bouncing all around in no time laughing maniacally the entire time.

I think almost all of us who play the game and write here love it, but you wouldn’t know it from the tone of so many of the posts on the forum. I browse here only from time to time because of the negativity (“Anet nerfed this”, “That is over-powered”). I’ve come to accept that the nature of these forums is to tend to draw attention to problems rather than say when stuff is good (though that does happen, too).

I’m really happy to read someone who is as happy with the game as I am. For the record, I’m biased – I main an Asuran guardian and thief.

First off, a belated welcome to GW2!

Despite the fact that game forums tend to be magnets for discontent (including mine), and having played since beta can make any game seem a bit stale after a while, I still consider GW2 the best game I’ve ever played.

And I still resent the fact that I can’t bring myself to play most other MMOs after playing it (we’ll see how ESO works out — I’m preordered, but I know I’ll be back).

GW2 ain’t perfect, but even after a year and a half, there’s still much more to love than to hate, and it’s always a treat to see someone share my enthusiasm for this awesome masterpiece of gamecraft.

Glad you’re enjoying the game. Tis a great game for sure. Although thief is fun because of the aspect of killing everything fast and being able to escape anything via stealth I would suggest trying an elementalist because stealth back stab repeat gets boring eventually. Trust me, I mained a thief for quite a while. Elementalist has 20 skills for each weapon and still has burst. But of course everyone is different. I love the a sura starting area as well, definitely my favorite. Roll a sylvari next as their starting area is beautiful, a sylvari elementalist that is :p. I’m biased hehe

Shockwave.1230: I know what you mean. The difference between the thief’s ‘initiative’ and the warrior’s ‘adrenaline’ changes the entire feel of combat. It’s great.
