I think P/P needs a different condition applied on Body Shot, a faster base attack and a decent AoE. P/P could be a nice condition style build for the thief (sort of like the engineer) but it is too compromised with too much single target, limited condition application and slow recharges.
I could see changing Repeater into either a ranged AoE skill or a teleport both of which would help bring it on par with the SB.

Pretty much this. The following relatively simple updates would make P/P much more functional and much more fun:
Increase firing speed of Vital Shot so that it can carry sustained DPS without keeping you starved
Retool Unload to be an AoE cone
Additionally, maybe it would be beneficial to give Body Shot a short duration burn
pp is fine and has the most decent aoe of all builds and is btw a not only spam set. u have ur Counter classes which is thief and mesmer, everything else is funny esp warris are easy goin. and wtf u wanna have condi meta on pp? because of #1 and #4?

Guys, I’m not arguing here for P/P. I’m suggesting a pistol offhand change.
ArenaNet wants Thieves to play in a 120×120 square range box, that’s why we’re losing the Teleportation abilities on Dec 10th.
Only all other classes are allow to leave a fight they’re about to lose, we’re not.

Altering a pistol offhand skill just because you want your mainhand to be more viable is not the way to go. Adding a teleporting retreat to this skill would make D/P a frustrating set to work with. Running D/P, or any spec, if you interrupt an enemy’s heal or other crucial skill you’ll want to press the attack and use your momentum to end the fight. making us teleport back every time we interrupt their skills would be very frustrating.
You don’t fix pistol main-hand by changing pistol offhand. You fix pistol main-hand by fixing pistol main-hand. ANet just doesn’t want to for some reason.
The problem is that p/p was heavily dependant on vigour, without vigour the survival decreases heavily.
It is needed somekind of run away system in the mainhand or offhand skills, it is needed one stealth more or one teleport, as easy as that….

The reverse teleport is what should’ve honestly went on Body Shot.. Between the mobility gained from such a change, and -as Einlanzer has mentioned many times- tweaking V. Shot to work as a proper source of dps, we’d finally have a “complete” MH Pistol/Dualgun spread.
Also, yes: OH Pistol is just fine as-is. Hell, it’s pretty beastmode in the right hands.
