I didn’t understand what do you said. What do you prefer for 1vs1 at WvW ?
D/D have the heartseeker but S/D give you a shadowstep that you can run for 15 seconds and back.
Why not both? I personally use the s/d + d/d and it works great.

Same, though I recently switch S/D to S/P. Sucks when I get into a fight where I’m in need of C&D, but when used correctly, it’s 2 extra skills (and a different 3#)

Maybe I can try do it and when I go to zergs change one of the weapons to shortbow because of the AoE damage. S/D and D/D sounds great but I really don’t know how to use one or the other at the combat.
I want to try S/D and S/P , D/D and S/P , S/D and D/D.

I’m not a fan of WuvWuv, but I actually like D/P a lot. It provides excellent damage with crits and a surprising amount of CC through blind and daze.

I totally agree. Para sigil is one thing that I really don’t know why to use .. 15% stun duration ( daze is not a stun) and the stun is 1.5seconds + 15% = 1,7225 … worth ?

It rounds up to 2 seconds. Which is only 1 second before you can CnD again. Meaning the enemy can barely hit you in a 1v1

DD + SD is win IMO for wvw.
I’m not a fan of the X/P weapon sets. I can’t really say why, other than the fact I don’t feel like a thief without a dagger in my offhand.

Lmao. I noticed this too and I will try S/D D/D. My build is a mix between PTV/BERSEK and my runes are ruby, with this style of build there are some rune better than my ruby ? Mesmer rune gives 33% daze duration..
In the sigils I can use this ?
Sword : Paraly
Dagger : Air
Dagger: Hydromancy
Dagger: Force
My bloodlust is on shortbow ( AoE damage ).
IMO, go with a Sword build for WvW. It’s not quite as heavy on the damage portion as D/D is, but it’s immensely rewarding to be able to shadowstep left and right, while your opponent is completely helpless. It allows for a decent bit of survivability, too, which is important given that enemies can leap right on top of you while you’re in the middle of a battle in WvW- which happens fairly frequently. If you love dealing tons of damage, D/D is probably going to be your thing. But that’s a riskier, less survivable build, IMHO. If you want something still advantageous, although somewhat less rewarding, but far more survivable and versatile, go with a Sword build.
However, one thing: I’d suggest S/P, not S/D (unless you really want perma stealth). S/P is a bit more useful and powerful, and has some neat interrupts, which S/D lacks a lot of.
If you want to live, have a way to always stealth, whether it’s dagger offhand or leaping through smoke. Thief’s biggest advantage in wvwvw is stealth and that’s the only way to take on multiple enemies and coming out alive or escaping with your hide intact.
s/p is possibly one of the harder choices as it doesn’t let you stealth, the main damage (pistol whip) also roots you so you’re not going to be landing it all the time.
S/D if you want to teleport around and daze as part of a 2 man or + team since your damage is a bit lower
I personally prefer d/d, especially if you get movement speed in stealth and the shadow arts traits.
If you are looking for 1v1, why are you looking for WvW? Unless you plan to just sit around and wait for some straggler to run by, you won’t get the opportunity a lot.
As to your original question, both are good. D/D for burst, S/D for more sustained fights.

D/D can be more frustrating than S/D, CnD takes a lot of practise, and like Maladon said shortbow its your friend!

Why not just go D/D in set 1 and Shortbow in set 2? If you want to switch it up just swap mainhand dagger for the sword. It’s easier to only swap the mainhand weapon back and forth than re-equip two weapons for set 2.
The versatility, mobility, situation utility and overall dps of having D/D or S/D in set 1 and Shortbow in set 2 easily beats any reason(s) to have D/D in set 1 and S/D in set 2.
Bottom line, Shortbow is one of the best weapons in the game. Leave it in your backpack to your detriment.

I never run a shortbow in WvW since december. I actually have a lot more fun when facing enemy on the ground. True it’s a bit annoying when defending/assaulting.
While defending I’d go out and try to assassinate siege users. While assaulting I’d either be using the sieges myself, or get out of combat to switch to SB.

Because you can’t do that while in combat and the switch from S/D to D/D is usually more natural then between shortbow and either S/D or D/D. Shortbow is a ranged AoE weapon, D/D and S/D are primarily single target melee sets and you use them in different situations.
Bottom line, Shortbow is one of the best weapons in the game. Leave it in your backpack to your detriment.
While it is good in some situations it is not in many others, which doesn’t warrant it a permanent spot.
sigil of para makes daze last 3 seconds in wvw and pve.. (unless they changed it in the feb patch)…borderline OP

Pretty much this. I dont even run SoS anymore. There was a good post here that compared travel with Heartseeker and SB and it was pretty even. If your running SoS you actually hurt your mobility with the SB since your maybe shadowstepping 600 units.
I have 3 different bows for the different builds I run but really I go d/p and S/D. D/P is really good against guardians with hammers and GS because of black powder. Most people stay in the black powder for some reason o.O.
Since I run D/P I don’t run D/D since its pretty much the same except for the cloak and dagger burst but my shadow shot hits for about 2.2k on crit has a 5 sec blind and gap closer yes please.
I love S/D though its really good not much to say about it except its really good.
Also if anyone didn’t know if you put on baslisk venom then flanking strike a target with stability, the stability is ripped first then the venom is applied. Love baslisks those dagger storming thieves lol

Thank you guys for the opinions. I am using S/D and P/P and I am really loving this combination for 1vs1, I know that WvW is not 1vs1 so when I run with my zerg guildies I swap to S/D Shortbow, simple and effective.
I saw that the rune of mesmer gives 33% daze duration and with para sigil my daze will be 4seconds but it worth lose alot of critical dmg for 1second more of daze ( ruby / beryl ) ?

you go one or the other they don’t stack. I prefer the sigil over the runes personally.

I did S/D – D/D for a while but switched to S/D – D/P purely because if you run into a D/P 1v1 you will loose if you don’t have access to non C&D stealth. Assuming you both blow all your utilities and avoid each other’s C&D the D/P will win due to self access to stealth in the end since bursty thief vs bursty thief is all about the stealth dance.
