to be honest executioner is worthless, doesn’t improve your time to kill
If you are interested i have a dd build focusing backstab and is meant to be an allround viable build (for wvw)

DHawk, I know you meant it well, but I see no reason for you to hijack his thread and promote your own build. And executioner is by no means “worthless”, 20% extra damage is pretty awesome if you ask me. But in your build, HK is needed because of low crit chance.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but I think Wave would have appreciated more feedback on his video and/or build, and what to improve etc.

the 20% damage is overrated, it won’t increase your time to kill unless your mainhand is sword or you try to autoattack someone to death with the dagger, but since it’s a BS build it makes no sense
as soon as your oponent hits 50% all (at least me) need is 1 more backstab, with or without executioner
I’m not trying to rant or “promote” my build, i thought maybe he could find some usefull things within my build
if you want to run DD with DA use improvisation, more usefull than executioner

I sadly couldn’t watch the whole video so i gave the fastest advice I could
Since I’m at work as well xD

Hey wave, your damage seems a little low. Your twitch skills seem good though so I think you could drop SA for CS, or perhaps drop the wurm runes for a power/precision set like pack runes. While you do have 19500 health, that’s about 1-2 auto attacks over the base of mauraders amulet.

Fun gameplay and some nice decisions.

I have taken this style of build into consideration as it is a massive damage backstab build although the one i showed also has high sustained damage and is for pvp/wvw. I disagree with executioner being worthless, even due to the thieves low time to kill targets the executioner still adds up with every hit below 50%

Hey, the damage doesn’t seem to be that low as i played with the build more. SA has high condi removal, high stealth up time and massive regen making it a lot safer than CS although CS would give higher damage the damage comes from backstabs mainly. I normally play with pack rune due to its insane stats but since changing from maurader to berserker you only get about 187% crit damage compared to about 202% with the wurm amulet and a lot more health for only sacrificing power. Just a thing i tried out and liked but thanks for the feedback

I liked listening to you “backstab”.

I run d/p full burst. My tactic is to damage all together and backstab for burst…

Da/cs/trickery scholar runes… Pretty rest is the same tho…

A stab build should be running executioner on the basis it allows for smoother +1’ing and secures kills much better. If you’re 100-0’ing, it’ll better-offset the effects of damage mitigation if your enemy reacts quickly, such as through protection or other trait effects.

Improv is only worthwhile in a build with a diverse set of utilities also utilizing SA or acrobatics on the basis that they will not be stabbing for substantial damage and will need to skirmish their way to 50% and under to begin with, likely blowing utilities beforehand.

If the OP ran withdraw, I would recommend improv on his build because it’s not really a true backstab build that will get big gains from Executioner unless he’s in an organized group as a +1’er, and his utilities would include everything except a trap, and all of the skills are high-impact if their CD’s got reset.

executioner is really good for short bow or heart seeker spamming. you see a lot in d/d short bow so i do not see any harm in running it with your build. personally i never been a fan of 20% dmg mod. But i suggest dropping trick or shadow for crit line your dmg just terrible. it allow way to much time for regrouping.

droping trick make it harder for you engage probably end up having to use short bow engage

dropping shadow you lose your ability to stay in combat long.

that just my thoughts if you do not like them that fine play what you like that what i do

It synergizes nicely with D/D as CnD → Mug can take a target to half before the stab. As I mentioned above, this helps offset effects like protection or mitigation traits to make the other half get burned down without needing HS spam afterwards. D/P doesn’t benefit much from this trait at all, since it’s normally going to be just auto-attacking or mashing 3 for damage after a stab, and the 20% modifier doesn’t help immensely there.
