Hello!

I’ve been WvW’ing for about a week, and I find it pretty awesome.

One thing tho, I find it hard to kill almost anything with my D/P setup (when I’m 1vs1-ing for an example).

I cant play so much, therefore I dont have so much gold, as you can see from what gear I’m using (full whisper with beryl-orbs).

Is the armor really sucky compared to the others (P/V/T) you get at Orr?

I know I need to get me some new jewelry, as I only got some lvl 70-stuff, and the strong back brace you get at lvl 5 or something, lol. (Will it help out a lot for me to get some better jewelry?)

And I’ve soon saved up 30-ish laurels, so think I’m gonna buy something from the vendor, was thinking about a better backpiece maybe, or anything else you guys would recommend?

As for my traits i use 0/30/30/10 (see attached image).

The problem is that your amor has Condition Damage as main stat and you are running a dd build.
I’ll suggest you a Valkyrie armor with beryl orb + zerk jewels to raise your critical damage, critical chance and power.
Your backstab will be much more strong.
Also consider to take the 100%dmg from stealth.

how’d you get that their armour has condition damage? they only have nearing 300 condition damage, that should be around the base amount for that level.

Becouse whisperes armor have condition damage on it. Im level 80 and I have 0 condition damage, so no that shouldnt be base amount at that level

It has precision, thoughness and condition damage on all the sets.

Maybe I would be better off having a venom-build then?

@Daendur, not using D/D, but D/P What specific armor do you recommend then?

You my friend have overpaid for good for nothing gear . If i remember right it costs around 3g a piece ( I may be wrong, but it certainly costs much more then rare lvl 80 gear at trade house). Exotic gear costs 5g a piece at trade house.

Buy a full green zerker set and you will do better than with that set :P Your power is way too low for a direct damage build. That is like everyone having perma protection up against you at all times. If they also have real protection or some decent armor you will hardly tickle them.

If you really want that armor, get the same stats on all pieces and orbs and go P/D with superiors of sigil of earth + sigil of agony and runes of the undead. Use 40% condition duration food. That will give you a lot of con dmg and 50% duration for bleeds.

Its 8 gold total, and 88 silver But yeah, thats the most money ive used on anything, lol :p

you should change basilik vennom with thieves guild
at 2500 p attack and that critical you won’t kill somebody in 1.5 sec

I have some karma I could use too. Buy the sets with P/T/V-stats?

P/V/T isn’t bad but not needed on a Thief really. You want to kill stuff and we avoid damage from stealth, teleports and evades. If you aren’t set on the D/P playstyle, there is a temple vendor for karma to buy “rabid” rings/back/accessories/ammy (precision/toughness/condmg) Your armor is already the rabid stats. If you pick those up you have a good condition set do play P/D with the rune/sigil/food setup I mentioned above.

That will get you going quickly, then you can start building your direct damage set.

edit: don’t forget to buy a karma booster before you chug ur jugs!

ahh true, yeah faction armour tends to be just for the skin rather than stats.

i meant direct damage not dagger/dagger.

For D/P I personally go full zerker (power/precision/critdmg%). Others would say a mix of zerker and knights(power/precision/toughness) and maybe Valk (power/vit/critdmg%). A really easy way to get full zerker gear over a bit of time is to learn Citadel of Flame path 1 and 2. You will make good money if you use %gold food. The marks can be spent on zerker armor and weapons. The money you can use to buy from TP or craft accessories. You can run path 1 and 2 multiple times a day, I’d say 3 of each per day max for me. That will net you well over 200 tokens/marks a from quest rewards and blue bag drops.

For the very short term, if you want that play-style just buy full green berserker gear off the TP. You will probably be surprised at how well it can do especially compared to your current setup. Someday you can use transmutation stones to skin your current armor on to whatever you end up with so you can keep the look.

Yea, not you, that gear is meant for vanity skin more than anything.

Laurels I would save for Ascended gear only (if you are in for the long term buy the zerker stat amulet first for 30 if you want to play with different specs save them). It’s the best in the game but no, there is no cheap back-piece for zerker aside from 5-gold for the rare guild one which I don’t really consider cheap. You can buy that and throw a exquisite ruby jewel in it and be good to go though. Alternately, there is a P/V/T exotic backslot in the temple of Grenth for 42K karma you can toss a exquisite ruby jewel in as well and get by (or super cheap option P/V/T rare back, search TP for “spineguard”).

If you want to go balls out, craft a Quiver of Swift Flight. It’s the best zerker back slot available but is very expensive and requires a lot of farming. More of a long term goal. 250 vial of powerful blood, 50 ectos, 1 vial of mist essanse (fotm 1-9) and a bunch of skill points, wiki it for exact items.

Also your spec is solid but once you get your gear in order, try out moving the 10 from acro to deadly to get mug. You will sacrifice some mobility (you are using sig of shadows anyway) for a nasty burst combo. Get behind someone and B-Vendom^BlackPowder^HeartSeeker^Steal(in mid air)^Backstab. You can do it from the front, just have to position for backstab which gives them more time to react. It also opens up “stealstab” which is simply opening from refuge or other form of stealth with backstab+steal at the same time. You can trigger backstab and hit steal in it’s animation, steal will actually hit first but backstab will complete. This can be done from 900 range behind someone if you are in stealth.

No probs! That’s a lot better. Fill the armor with Ruby orbs too if you have the silver, they are pretty cheap.

I actually did, on all armor-pieces and on my jewelry.

Was thinking of maybe buying the “ring of death” ascended-earring… 35 laurels. I miss only 5 now But I dont know if I should save them or not.

Did my first P1 CoF yesterday, died only once with my stats (zerker), so guess I did okey. Gonna try more later today!
