What if they made is so weapon skills had a different kind stealth from utility stealths.? For clarity’s sake I’ll call this second stealth “shroud”. Shroud would be exactly the same as stealth but would render the user transparent rather them invisible and be exclusive Cloak and Dagger and Smoke Leap. Shroud would proc the same traits as stealth. Perhaps if it proves too weak they could give it something like 70% chance that all incoming hits will be glancing.
With this in place Anet could have an easier job buffing us in our real trouble areas. Do things like swap Last Refuge with Clocked in Shadow; buff the way our Regen scales; increase the area at which backstab and tactical strike count as a back attack, allow us to hold a point while Shrouded ect.

All we need is Shadow Form in place of stealth.
I don’t think thief buffs should focus on stealth buffs. They rely too much on it already.
Or rather (perhaps more accurate), I simply don’t think balance devs (or most people) consider stealth an area thief needs any buffs in.

This isn’t so much a buff as a change. If stealth is visible it needs something to make it truly defensive or it’s useless.

Huh? I didn’t see anything about being visible in your first post. I thought you just wanted a version stealth that’s the same but makes things glance as well.
If you mean a stealth that’s visible to enemies in the way you currently see your own stealthed character but makes incoming blows glance, then yes I’m all for that sort of thing, I’d actually been thinking of something similar. Of course that sort of update would have to be carefully tested for the right % glancing before being implemented because stealth thieves are actually very tanky already. This version would also allow thieves to cap while stealthed of course.

Yeah, sorry, missed the whole point of Shroud. The thief’d be semi visible and have a chance at being glanced rather then directly hit. /derp
Once I had an idea to make thieves invisible to blind targets.
Basically all stealth skills would be changed to blind skills, and thieves would have a natural ability to be “invisible” to any blinded target on range.
Blind would also work like a “forced culling” meaning that the target wouldn’t be able to see other players in a 600 meter+ radius (when thieves would be invis at any distance).
I believe this idea would keep thief PvP “intact” as well that would remove stealth against “numbazz.”
Oh right, backstab would become a dagger skill or something, maybe change stealth for backstab?

Some time ago one of the QQers came and said that if we would trade our stealth for invulnerability but being visible (like shadow form), saying that he was sure we wouldn’t trade it beause invisibility was much better.
Of course everyone told him that if it would depend on us we would say yes 110 out of 100 times so he had to go QQ other place in the end, but apparently non thieves QQers would be fine with stealth being replaced by invulnerability.
Of course it would be too OP to change it for invulnerability, but don’t take them as a good measure of what is considered aceptable or not, they just want to rage a bit no matter what is it.

You got it wrong.
If stealth = shadow form, then shadow form will end if the Thief deals damage.
Not necessarily since they know where the Thief is going and they can time their skills properly and not waste them.
Most of the QQ are from those who feel stupid after burning all their AoE cooldowns only to find out that the Thief is not even there anymore.
If that’s not going to work, then something like Feign Neutrality would be nice to have.
