Guild Wars 2

So this annoys probably only myself. But, in creating my thief, I wanted her to be a noble woman, so I chose the anonymity hood to keep her face hidden. Now, that I’ve leveled her, I realize that all of the head armor is only mask styled. I have been told that you can transmute the original hood with another no leveled item, but I can’t even do that.

Will there be hood options in the future, I suppose I can just wear a mask, but I’d really like more hood options at other levels than the first 10.

I assume that the only thing you would need is a transmutation stone.

very few armor skins are missing.

But you can get the anonymity hood from another character.
Thats what i did as well- But its a long time ago

Some medium armor do have hoods, but not many… inquest and whisperer’s are the only two that I can think of off the top of my head. The norn T3 cultural also has a hood for males, but that is not an option for most characters.

Is there a reason you can’t transmute the original hood skin onto new armor?

Perhaps un-equip the hood first, have both items in your inventory.

I’ve done all those things, it lets me set up the transmutation, but the transmute button is dark. Do I need something else?

Ah, that has happened to me before. Here’s something to try…

Ensure the anonymity hood is in the left side of the transmutation window, and the other item is in the right hand side. For some reason, it won’t always let you transmute the skin from the right item onto the left item, but I’ve found it will always let me transmute the skin from the left item onto the right item.

I thought that was just to ensure that the right skin is used?

You have to chose three things usually, the look (click on it), the main stats and the rune if applicable – once you clicked on all of that you will have one set in the middle – you should not see anything on either side (or twice) so to speak.

Mhhh, bug it with a screenshot? Really hard to say, never had any trouble myself – except for some starter gear not showing the look after the transmutation (hence the “left” thing), but Anet fixed that one.

Ok, totally figured it out. I’m a dunderhead. I didn’t click the hood to say that’s what I wanted it to look like. So much learning in this game. Thanks to Flikk on Crystal Desert server for walking me through it.

I had same issue with headband. I thought there was gonna be 3 different types of head pieces to follow your own path, lore-wise but only mask players get new headpieces. The only other headband and hood are Order armor, and the headband is barely noticeable.

I deleted my mule alt and made a Theif alt a long time ago and logged into game with him, summoned bank golem and transmuted the headpieces onto low lvl tradable white items from TP and now I have a bunch of them in storage for when I need them. Just make sure you don’t leave your tranny stones on’em when you delete.
