Any staff roamers out there?
Low stealth, build, like it. What’s the matter?
Infact, thats exactly what im doing. I play staff daredevil and WvW most of my time. I clear camps easily, I duel a lot and have the feeling I can win any 1v1 and if I feel being at a disadvantage I just disengage.
A combination of Vault, Dash, SoA, Channeled Vigor, Staff Mastery, Shadowstep gives enough mobility to disengage when I want.
I play Staff since HoT released so it doesn’t feel clumsy at all, on the other hand d/p where you always have to setup stealth and restealth to survive feels clumsy and predictable to me.
its weird, pvp and wvw. i play much better as d/p in wvw but i play much btter on staff in pvp lol.
gw1 – healing signet/frenzy/charge
I like Staff and there are Fights that are way easier with Staff because of the Aoedamage. But yes, if you are using it as your Mainweapon unhindered Combatand and Roll for Initiative/Shadow Step helps a lot. But i prefer D/P and Bound. This Way i have still Stealth for better dis-/engaging a Fight and different Openers.
Pulmonary Impact and Quickness are nice to have too;).
But you have to know when to be on which Weaponset. Still improving myself with Staff and like it.
I got oneshot by a Glass Staff Roamer whilst I was streaming this afternoon,
So for a bit of a joke, I changed my stream title to #STAFFPRODAREDEVIL and ran the same build and got the same results for most classes, minus Necro/RIPer.

After the random Staff damage buffs, you can just run around people in circles spamming 1, 1, 1, 1, 1,…
I got a 10k Total crit from Staff 1 Punishing Strikes

pretty sure staff was more designed for fighting on small slivers of ground of sPvP than roaming, while i enjoy staff a lot in sPvP i felt extremely uncomfortable using it in WvW so i still prefer the oldschool d/d for roaming

I am a keyboard klutz in general when it comes to anything pvp, but if I had to pick one thing, I would say I that I am having trouble finding a strong, reliable initiation combo for staff. I’ve been experimenting with bound into steal followed by vault but am having issues landing it.
I’ve been experimenting with somthing similar but my build is sort of a work in progress. Also not gonna lie, the 11k reverse vault that downed the zerker made me laugh.
pff. people running every dmg buff they can get for cheap kills. that what ruins this game. far from impressed of that steal 3.5k crit per weaking charge hit steal combo and it is not skill lol (comments from your stream)

The main combo that I use for initiation is vault for damage buff → weakening charge+steal combo. Works pretty well and is really reliable from my experience.
I use staff roaming in a da\dd\trickery build . I find the stealth helps immensely.
Vault abuse won’t work on decent players, use it sparingly. In PvP, you have to kite, evade and make use of Debilitating arc, . Weakning charge chain and steal combo is powerful, like a heartseeker without the modifiers, n ways, additional weakness uptime can help total.
Plays completely opposite professions to his main Teef.

Just as a Rune to consider for Staff users in WvW as I finally earned the stuff needed to buy them.
I slapped on Runes of Surging. Power and some boon duration no big deal but I am really liking using Impact strike with the shocking aura it provides.
With stealth integrated in my build and hidden theif (which now adds extra speed) , Steal>knockdown>vault>Impact strike. This with PI traited. I have gotten double interruopts on enemies using steal.knockdown as SOH traited.
You can also use Fist flurry in place of the vault.
In any case you can get a whole chain of PI’s going off one after another in quick succession. As I also have absorption sigil on the staff , this can also rip away a whole pile of boons (three on the steal alone)
