Anyone else really not bothered by the nerfs?
I think overall I am pretty happy with the pace of the nerfs. I know folks dislike the constant patch after patch nerfing, but the alternative is like other games where you have these big balance patches that invariably over nerf and over buff, until the next balance patch and the next thing gets over nerfed or over buffed. To me the small incremental changes is a much better system.
Overall I havent really be that unhappy with any nerfs we have recieved, though I do think ANet is missing the mark on a number of changes. PW nerf instead of addressing haste, for example.
I also think ANet really needs to realize that abilities are used across a wide spectrum and that changes to an ability in one build may reach the desired effect, but then totally mess up other builds. The change to whirling axe for example. As a condition build my whirl axe damage is pathetic, I will take more damage using it then I will deliver. So if I steal from a warrior I have to burn it and run in a circle while I try and cancel it, so that I can get my steal back. Before I at least got evade out of it while I did some pathetic damage.
In my opinion they need to look at stat stacking and how it is impacting damage, rather then constantly nerfing ability damage that effects various builds that may not be doing much damage to start with, let alone after being nerfed by 50%.
I went well. I expected a bigger update, something like 1,5 GB or so with the way they announced it, but overall, I have nothing to complain about. Folks talk about the Ascended tier and gear grind, blah, blah… I don’t even have a full Exotic set yet and I only play with one character since the release and, by the way, I have no profession related problems whatsoever. Who cares?
I like the new Shadow Trap, although I don’t play PvP a lot and, conclusively, the Cloak and Dagger damage nerf doesn’t matter that much to me.
I mean, as long as you have fun, everything’s good, right? Lately, it seems as if this Thief thread has become a colossal whine across the forum. BS nerf, wtf? No longer playing Thief! That’s it, ANet ruined it for me! etc, etc… It’s like they’re supposed to cater to each and every one’s need.
To summarize, I think the patch went well! Patches, updates and kittens are what keeps the game alive and running.

the only thing i really hate about this update is that now d/d build will probably will be used more than before, also p/d didn’t needed a nerf at damage.
At least it proves that Anet does what they feel is best and not what the masses QQ about.
This took D/D and tried to make it more of a single target burst spec. With all that zerker gear the ability to blow all your init on Dancing Dagger then Dagger Storm then Cluster spam did massive AoE damage. Now that is reduced but all the burst is there aside from a nerf to C&D in sPvP.
For a PvE/WvW player this patch wasn’t too bad. I am very glad to see that they are at least making changes to some things with the ‘only in pvp’ tag. I am disappointed in the non-pvp nerfs but all in all its not as bad as I expected.
I am disappointed that P/P and S/P weren’t fixed and Haste/Quickness and stealth rendering remain the problems.

i think they still need another nerf, looking a thief killing a group of five lvl 80 (and not glass cannons) is way too op
No worries here, although I don’t do PvP. The one thing in my build that did get nerfed was a bit too powerful so it wasn’t surprising.
While I do not play thief myself, I duo in WvW with what I consider to be a very good thief player. He still kills people in 2-3 seconds, he still thinks thieves are OP but that is just his opinion. He actually down’s people before I am even in range on my D/D Ele.
It is the same in every other MMO. Good players will STILL be good players, bad players will head to the forum and complain. All the QQ is not needed, thieves are still very, very powerful professions.

Genuinely surprised mug wasn’t nerfed, but I don’t use it. I run a more defensive D/D + SB build and it works great for me, and while I use C&D a good bit, it doesn’t really cripple me or my playstyle, and DD was far too OP earlier (in WvW, spot 2-3 non 80’s, dump initiative, and all would be downed).
In my opinion they need to look at stat stacking and how it is impacting damage, rather then constantly nerfing ability damage that effects various builds that may not be doing much damage to start with, let alone after being nerfed by 50%.
This is exactly what I have been thinking also, I am not sure why aNet are focussing on the ability itself and not look at the stat bonuses being stacked on gear and by using food/maintenance oils etc…

I wasn’t bothered at all. I’m a P/D CB thief and I do a heck of a lot of damage bleeding players. I had the opportunity to duel another thief with a D/D BS build. I won, but that was because I can lay caltrops and still hit him while he was stealthed. Being able to deal bleeding damage, stealth, deal more bleeding damage, stealth, deal more bleeding damage, is quite effective. I don’t even have all of my exotic gear and when I get Might stacked from dodging (and laying more caltrops), I can do upwards of 111 bleed dmg. It makes me wonder why do people even bother with the cannon thief when P/D CB thief is much more fun, even when I lose.

imho i think the nerfs were well implemented and needed, im also very happy with some buffs, specialy Blinding powder and Scorpion wire.
I thought they were going to make venoms and traps useful (which they didn’t) maybe next time.
overall I’m a very happy thief.
