Zagozda – LVL 80 Warrior
Trynity Killer – LVL 80 Ranger
If so which ones?
I use Ambush Trap semi-often, it’s a good way to get a little help in solo play. Otherwise, not really. They aren’t terrible for the most part, it’s just that there are 2 skills that stay on my bar pretty much all the time – Caltrops and SoS, leaving me with only 1 true choice, leaving little room for build experimentation.
I use shadow trap in wvw from time to time. Not so much anymore because there have been a few times where I waste it due to the longer revealed debuff.
Flame Trap, Spike Trap and Viper’s Nest are good, even all three together in a single build.
Oh wait, thief traps? Nm, they suck. Ambush Trap works in PvE if you want to maximize your DPS and don’t need the other utilities. Shadow Trap will suck as long as the shadowstep part isn’t as good as the one on sword #2. The other two traps are only useful to troll the jumping puzzle players in WvW maps.

I would use shadow trap in all of my builds in sPvP if it was reliable at all for hopping between points.
In PvE, ambush trap is pretty good for straight single target dps.
The rest don’t really have much of a use case over any other utility.

In fractals you can use an ambush trap on the svanir boss for some damage. In the dredge fractal you can use a trap on the mining suit boss to immobilize under a cauldron. There are probably other uses in dungeons as well but caltrops are typically just better.
I use sometimes Shadow Traps in WvW to ambush enemy when they go out from keep.
I still wonder about rangers and that fire trap… so ok they use the power of nature to fight and all that, hence why they get spirits… but setting up a trap to explode into flames in the middle of the forest seems like a bad idea for someone who’s seemingly in tune with nature and such… and of course theres the reasons for using the traps…
A thief will put traps down to stop or kill people chasing them or to set up an ambush so they can say take out a convoy of people and steal all their stuff. So of course they get traps that don’t really damage the enemy and at best summon a friend to help fight.
A ranger will put traps down for hunting, for stopping people getting close to them and such, so of course they get the traps that are about killing and dealing damage…
Yeaaaah…
Thief traps are the worst utility skills of the game.
Ahahahahahah (oh sorry, no I don’t.)
Me myself did not use traps in pve. and i did not see a decent working build for traps so far. Traps defintly need loves.

I use ambush trap when farming.
Only Ambush Trap from time to time.
I tried to use Tripwire in a Fight Club to help maintain distance against D/D Eles. Although, this was back when I was a tanky condition thief. For Eles, though, I needed to make sure they didn’t move around all the time, so Trip Wire, Needle Trap, Basilisk Venom, and Blinding Powder with P/P worked well in that situation.
