Ok so this is I think only the 2nd time I’ve ever posted on the forums, I read them a lot but never feel strongly enough about most topics to post, BUT this new change to revealed has really annoyed me.
I play dagger dagger and I liked the fact that my auto attack was the perfect timing for the revealed debuff pre patch. For those that did not know, you could do 3 auto attacks and watch for your lotus strike animation and then you could cloak again to backstab. It was the perfect rotation, and meant i could just watch my characters animations and know exactly when I could cloak again, but now, Arenanet you just made it messy, and it does not feel right, you want me to wait 4 auto attacks before I can use another skill? YAWN. Please put it back to 3 seconds and nerf me some other way, cos I really despise this change.

Indeed. Makes me sad. It’s all sloppy now~ the 2nd time is like in the middle of the 2nd chain. I think I woulda prefered the reveal on comming out of steal w/o attacking. Move the extra 1 second to that instead. :P 1 second reveal when stealth wears w//o attacking.

Actually, having played tonight I’ll say that this is annoying. Irritating. Playing the thief seems stop start now as you steal some feathers and wait to use them. You want to use hide in shadows but wait for stealth. You want to use cloak and dagger but wait for the stealth. You run your 3 auto-attacks and then wait to stealth. It’s just not as much fun. It’s like getting a car back from the garage and finding that it takes an extra half second to change gears. You just want skills available when you want to use them and the 4 second delay feels like an artificial restriction compared to the 3 second delay.

This is irrespective of min/max builds and class balance.

OK. I have something to say about today’s(26 Mar) patch. Alot was told already but we (Thives) have so many tiny topisk on this huge problem.
Hope that at least one of them(maybe this one) will reach dev’s ears.
Playtested for a few hours, to make sure its THAT BAD. And it is.
There is no way i can discribe in words, how dissapointed i am about revealed chage.
It does not solve a CnD spam problem. But it take a huge part of what thief is: surv and attack thru stealth. Survivabuility decreaced dramaticaly.
4 secs of debuf hurts basicly all specs of this class. It ruins dmg rotations too.
Change is not balanced in any means. Hope Anet will undo it, or balance us with more surv/dmg/both to spvp competitive lvl.
At this point i feel no fun playing my thief and i think i ll give it a try to another class (any will do).

I’m not too aggravated about this simply because it makes Infusion of Shadow (10 pt SA) somewhat less mandatory for D/D pve dps. I would much rather be playing 25/30/0/15/0 and now I won’t feel as bad for doing so.

Mesmer’s definitely don’t feel OP when I’m fighting them. As for your burst only being 7k, I some how doubt that. >.>

you really cant play your mesmer, do you?

and that 1 sec is ruining s/d, d/d, a whole skilltree (shadow arts), every alternative (was already nerfed), condition nerf as well due to isufficient stack handling and caltrops nerf. and on top of that, perma stealth is still working.
only 1 second heh? anet never really played a thief.

Let’s have a look here:

1) Shadow Refuge? Giving you trouble? You’re a Mesmer. Illusionary Wave. HOW HARD WAS THAT? WHOOOOAAA! :O

2) 20/20/0/0/30 Shatter build is capable of 14k Mind Wrack on glass cannon targets in sPvP, and that’s not including Phantasm damage beforehand. Did you really call iZerker a “burst”? /facepalm

3) Has it occurred to you that Thief is SUPPOSED to have more stealth than you?

While I do agree that just adapting to the change is the only way to go (changing proffession seems way to drastic) I still feel it hit PvE needlessly. Dumping infusion of shadows for other points might be a way to go. The problem is that your all-over survivability does take a hit with no points in Shadow Arts. Im just switching it out to use both shadow protector and cloaked in shadows (last one not being as good, it sure aint at the point of being bad unless we’re talking bosses). Maybe just keep 10 points and stick those somewhere else and switch between shadow protector and cloaked in shadows like I used to.

The part I don’t like is sitting back watching my autoattack while having a sip of tea. Maybe keep infused, and just throw in a heartseeker between the auto-chain and the next CnD? Not that it’d be effective until your target is at lower health.

And don’t worry about Henrik, he’s been going berserk across the thief sub-forum all day, not bringing anything constructive to the topics, so just leave him be. Don’t set fire to all that fuel he’s leaking out of his rare like my old clunky car.

This (but increase the damage of each hit by 33%), or add a 4th attack.
