Armor and Leveling a Thief
All my characters I go and buy new gear every 5-10 levels, depending on how bad in getting beat up. The cost goes up te higher you go up because you make more gold. But at level 23, yiu could probably hear yourself in a complete masterworks for 10-15 silver no problem. You could spend 5 silver if you wanted to use fine armor. The masterworks at that level usually have stats a couple points higher and maybe a little higher armor. Nothing that matters much. Then throw some cheap runes in and voila. New armor.
I craft with one character to just gain the ability. But I always lack behind my level. And finding your own gear is just about impossible to keep up with while leveling.
as long as your not determined to be in the absolute best gear at all times you should get ample gear from drops, story quests and the odd purchase of TP
That said I personally leveled up my first char wearing rares, when I was 5 levels away from crafting the next set of rare armour I’d go farm the mats ready the farming and the crafting of rares (and leveling crafting skills) would mean I’d get the 5 levels (or near enough) and have the armour and weapons ready.
This does take a fair bit of intense grinding every 10 levels though so it may not be for you.
When I level characters I usually just buy gear every 10-15 levels.
It usually doesn’t cost much (Maybe 1s per piece of gear at level 60+) and it’s not too vital to replace (A couple of my characters used level 30 gear up until levels 55-65)
As long as you can keep leveling in places that are suited to your ability (At level is generally fine, can go to lower level zones and still get decent exp. I personally take things at 5-8 levels above me (Yes even my level 65 character that was wearing level 30 gear)) you should be fine with armour you get from personal stories/drops/occasional bit bought from TP.
