Alright, I can’t decide. I’ve decided to roll a thief as an alt, but I can’t decide on a race.

I’m an altaholic, and I have every race and almost every profession (I only lack thief and warrior)

I’ve narrowed it down to Asura and Sylvari, but I can’t make the final cut.

I love the Asura because of their storylines, but the idea of a Sylvari thief is very intriguing. Mainly due to their Inquisitive nature, and their limited understanding of death.

I have decided to open up my decision to you guys. Help me out!

Flip a coin, heads is asura and tails is sylvari. You’ll know what one you want while it’s in the air.

I like the asura storyline but then again, I’ve never rolled a sylvari.

I chose a Sylvari and never regretted it. They’re naturally corageous, inquisitive, and collectively intelligent, but they can also be corrupted by Nightmare and turned into a fearsome enemy. I found that from a lore/RP point of view this makes for a very interesting Thief.

Also, their personal stories are great (I found the White Stag path particularly enjoyable and reveals a lot about the Sylvari and the Nightmare Court).

Oh, and Asura are egotistical midgets and you can’t see their gear properly which sucks… Sylvari > Midgets.

I kinda wish I didnt pick sylvari, some of the(err much of the) armor looks rather strange with them twiggy arms, even using the bulkiest model.

Yeah, a lot of armor looks really, really, really crappy on us. Especially Heavy Armor Sylvari’s.

As much as I generally go Sylvari, I gotta say Asura for Thief. It’s those crazy animations and emotes. Plus, those mini-geniuses look like they’re zooming all over the place.

Before the game released, I decided on a sylvari thief main, but I like Asura sooo much better! I rerolled my thief to Asura and never regretted it Animations, storyline, roll Asura and never look back!

I enjoy my Sylvari Thief. In the end it really just boils down to whatever race you find most appealing. Or if you are a metagamer than choose whoever has the best racial abilities.

I like Sylvari, cuz they glow at night and i love the tier3 armor set

I had to reroll to asura after getting my sylvari to lvl 80. The armor on sylvari looks great if it’s standing still. Due to the “trenchcoat” style of most medium armor sylvari gets clipping from their daggers. However, the sylvari has a great glow effect during night time, but the novelty runs out quick imo.

Something you might want to realize about asura thief is that besides for smaller weapons and armor skin (which doesn’t really bother me except for pistols) is that their dodge do not trigger the blur effect.

Again, I have both of them to lvl 80 and i prefer my asura way more. Asura dance is a bonus too

I would definitely go with Sylvari.

Asura! Mostly animations and story lines.

Go with looks, you will have to look at your character for hours to come from the back (and front depending on what kind of activities you plan on doing) and generally I think it bothers alot of people if the armor available doesnt suite to their taste, so heres a link to a website which has any armor in any race/gender combination.

I’d also suggest to watch at how both races use their skills and run around.
