@Basilisk Nerf -- What was the point of this?
It’s still a stun, there’s just isn’t a hidden immobilize anymore.
Basilisk venom used to stun AND immobilize. Now it only stuns. It does NOT daze the target.

So, they cannot move during a basilisk stun? I read the patch notes as they can move around while turned into stone. I haven’t logged in yet.
Basilisk venom was good with that combination so the stun breakers did not work. Now it is an elite skill that has a non elite counterpart that is better. They really destroyed this skill.
nope they cannot move during the basilisk stun however they can move after using a stun breaker which they couldn’t before because it used to apply both a stun and an immobilize

I’m still not sure I fully understand the basilisk skill and the nerf. Someone care to explain?
I usually use basilisk+devourer at the same time anyways.
I have just loged into forums to write same comment. It really makes no sence at all. They might as well rename it to daze now, couse even its name doesnt make sence now. Oh well, one more useless elite now. For all the qqers that might comment, im not a big fan of basilisk, becouse I dont play burst build, therefore i rarelly use it, but i do give a fk enough to comment.

The skill now ONLY stun’s people, where as before, is stunned them AND immobilized them. So when they used a stun breaker to counter the stun, they still couldn’t move because it also immobilized them.

Again it has NOT been changed to a daze, it is still a STUN.
The change is that before it used to both Stun and Immobilize, this meant that when someone used a stun breaker they would still be immobilized and unable to move, they have now removed the extra immobilize from it so that it is now JUST a stun which means a stun breaker will remove it completely, it does NOT mean they can now move around while stunned as the stun still prevents movement like every other stun.
Sheesh! I’m just confused about all of these nerf cries. The skill still Stuns. ArenaNet just removed a hidden bonus condition that it was also applying. Yes, it’s nerfing the bonus debuff. However I wouldn’t call that a hard core nerf.
>I’m still not sure I fully understand the basilisk skill…
>I usually use basilisk
and this is why aNet had to nerf it, because it was effective even when used by a player who dont know what this skill does.

Basilisk venom did Immobile and stun, because of this combination you could not move or use stun breakers so devour venom was not needed.
What I read in the patch notes is that we get a weaker version of devour venom.
Although Basilisk stun can be removed with stun breakers, it’s still is a stun that ignores Defiant and Stability.
The skill now ONLY stun’s people, where as before, is stunned them AND immobilized them. So when they used a stun breaker to counter the stun, they still couldn’t move because it also immobilized them.
Ok, so it isn’t a daze, it still stuns them and they can’t move, but if they stun break, they can move.
This won’t really affect me because I use devourer at the same time as basilisk so they should still get immobilized, but I still don’t understand why this ability got nerfed.
because we are not allowed nice elites :P

This.
So to be clear, in PvE we will see no difference since enemies do not use stun breakers?
Devourer Venom >> Basilisk Venom, enough said.

Last time I immobilized a warrior, he used Whirling Attack and downed me instantly XD I still prefer Basilisk Venom
I changed my original post. Re-read.
This is our only usable underwater elite, and they ruined it. You’re turned to stone, you shouldn’t be able to do anything kitten

That is your punishment for being a glass cannon.
Sanctum of Rall
And his reward for being a glass canon?
Considering he did like, twice my HP bar in damage, playing in a full toughness build or full vitality build wouldn’t have save me. And I’m traited heavily in defensive stats, just using offensive armor/trinkets.
Welp its not really an elite anymore is it???
IMO keep it like it is but reduce the CD on BV, SS, and Steal to 15 seconds.
An enemy cannot move or use skill while stunned! Basilisk is the same as before!! only thing, now it can be counter with stun breakers

The last time I have fought a glass cannon warrior, he couldn’t even damage me for 1/2 of my life and he died pretty fast. I’m a full p/v/t, so go figure.

So I guess I need to invest on the trait for immobility below 50percent.
Id like to have the skill be a insta cast again. Its stupid to have it on a cast time when ALL our other venoms are insta cast.
The skill should be insta cast, CD of 15s, and it should “break” stability.
So if you basilisk someone with stability up, they lose stability and are stunned. They can of course use a stability stun break to regain stability and break the stun if they have one up.
That would really turn this ability around.
EDIT: There is really no counter to stability other than sword/dagger #3 skill, which is very unpractical in a large melee.
