Curious on which Thief setup is currently considered top .. I’m running a Dagger/Dagger crit build right now and it’s pretty fun but I’m not sure it’s the best.

Thoughts?

I think D/D is the best for tPvP because burst is the only unique property Thieves have going for them. If people didn’t take you for the burst, they’d have probably gone with a different class.

That said, I’ve found Pistol/Dagger builds to be better in actual 1v1 situations and WvW trolling. Much more forgiving and nigh unbeatable in duels.

I have gone back to dagger dagger. Pistol dagger is awesome, but unless you run venoms, its hard to keep poison on the target and i find that all your damage going through a stack of bleeds that everyone can remove gets rather irritating.

I dont like backstab burst, but you cant complain that it doesnt work. In a wvw big fight, i teleport to the back lines, and start dropping rangers, eles. Cloak and dagger, backstab, 6k+ damage, move to next target. They all start attacking you or trying to find you (use stealth). As injured people run back from the front lines with low health, heartseeker to drop them, or backstab for more damage. Dont worry about stomping, by the time you do that you could of dropped two more people in the downstate. And if they try to res, you have a perfect target to auto attack for more ini recovery. This also takes 2 people out of the battle.

Condition damage just can’t do this strategy.
