Best Weapon Combo
The best weapon combo, as stated about a billion times already… is one that works for you. There is nothing wrong with what you have unless you just suck at it or have problems with survivability.
“Whats the best weapon for X?” Question is irrelevant in this game, unless you are asking for specifics. If its PvE, its everything. If its PvP, then your options will depend on what sort of PvP you do. The community needs far more details then the ones you provided.

My favorite weapon set is the Dagger/Dagger and Dagger/Pistol and Pistol/Dagger and Pistol/Pistol and Sword/Pistol and Sword/Dagger and Shortbow combo. See what I did there?
All cynicism aside, I’d second what Rameth said. There is no ‘most-efficient’ weapon combo as they are all very good. Situationally, you just need to pick what you think will benefit you the most. I’m a big Sword/X advocate because of its cleave, but it has a slower wind up time than Daggers and lacks the ranged advantage of Pistols or Shortbows. It’s really up to you though.
It depends on your playstyle.
Do you like to hide-hit-run, hit with AoE, be full-critical or more balanced etc.
As for me, I’m full-critical (dagger+dagger) with some items for survivability instead of Precision & Short-Bow for AoE damage.
Sword/Dagger. Once I tried it (with the right build to back it up), I never went back.
It depends if you’re following more of a Critical Strikes build or more of a Condition Damage build.
P/D lends itself more towards Condition Damage (arguable)
D/D works both with both builds
Shortbow is everyone’s favorite alternative weapon. Has more Synergy with Critical Strikes but is always a viable choice.
Sword mainhand likes Critical Strikes and doesn’t have any Condition Damage iirc.
P/P works with both.
Since you’re leveling, I assume in PvE, I’ve found D/D and condition damage to be efficient. You can pull 3-4 mobs that are 2-3 levels above you and bleed them to death while taking no damage.
It’s not totally ideal for single, tough enemies, esp. if they have strong ranged. On the other hand, my encounter with Klakka the Brain (skill challenge), who was 5 levels above me, went like this:
DB, DB, DB
Pop Steal ability I had saved, which was a long bleed
Mob gets stuck, attacks me from range, I die
Repair, give up, head to next WP
“Event Succeeded!”
Yeah, she died from that 1-minute bleed I applied to her…
Yeah, she died from that 1-minute bleed I applied to her…
Pretty sure no bleed stacks last anywhere near a minute, even with a hefty dose of duration. More likely what happened is someone came by and finished the fight or did it from scratch and you got credit for having done damage to the NPC.
But overall, yes, the secret to efficiency in open-world PvE is leveraging AE skills.

[Edit] I did also ask in /y if someone had ganked her, but no response…not that that means nobody actually did, but the zone was pretty empty at that hour

Of course, a bleed that long only works on mobs who don’t happen to have any condition curing, and definitely not players…still kinda cool though.
Just in general, too, if I mess up and get downed on a large pull, I often find I auto-rally just because one of the mobs I’m bleeding dies. Such a nice change from my Guardian!
