Guild Wars 2

So a friend and I decided to buy Guild Wars II. He has considerably faster internet than me, so while his download is already done mine won’t finish until tomorrow morning. In the meantime he has started a thief and seems to really like it. What I’m wondering is, what professions seem to have the best synergy with the thief in pvp? How about pve?

Should I go something tanky to absorb the majority of the damage or perhaps something ranged so that we aren’t both stuck in melee? Should I go Mesmer so that we both have good mobility and stealth? Maybe a Warrior for good survivability and incredible burst? I really like the look of each of the classes and just can’t decide, hearing your opinions on good combinations would really help.

You have enough stealth for both of you if one’s a thief.
Warrior is good as a front liner to enable the thief to come from behind and do what he does best but realy any proffesion works.Don’t worry about that .Play what you like.

A good profession to duo with thief in PvE is ranger, as he can distract enemies while thieves deal the killing blow.

Despite the common misconception, RANGERS DO NOT DIE!

Their trait and skills allow them to regenerate and dodge like heck, while their Greatsword allows them to evade almost anything with well-timed attacks!

Pets are also not as squishy as some people like to think. When traited and microed properly, they are capable of surviving very well, and soaking up damage. They are also underrated damage dealers, as my Jaguar is able to strike for 2-3k dmg average!

I can’t count the number of times I am in WvW and think I am fighting 1 thief and then I work out I am fighting 2 or 3.
That’s when I pop shadow refuge and run.

in WvW .bunker guardian
if those 2 ppls sincronize they can take groups of 4-5 easy
How it works… guardian initiate , he can even use the bubble for 6 second and thief start to kill , after they finish 1 -2 thief get away and guadian use mercifull intervention to teleport out of combat
or bunker elementarist , same strategy , better survaivability and more heals for thief.

Let you thief friend dps the kitten out of your foes while they are busy ignoring him and chasing after you, for whatever reason. Like mobs, actually.

I find Thief and Necro a pretty potent combo. The fields generated by marks are great for combos.

I’m a D/D and Shortbow acrobatics and crit thief, my wife rolls Necro Staff and Scepter. We condition kill stuff to death.

Gotta say 2 thieves are just fun, you guys are gonna be able to go against 10 people easy and drown in a river of QQ tears

My favorite is Elementalist. High DPS, and tons of combos between Elementalist fields, and Shortbow Blast finisher.

I duo with a Warrior. He charges in and smashes faces, and I finish everyone off after sneaking around to the back.Ye Olde pincer movement, except one side of the pincer is a giant burly brawler and the other side is a petite woman with a knife.

Or both crit.

1st gives you the ability to kitten multiples while the other let’s you down/stomp in the middle of 100 enemies w/out coming out of stealth.

Try running with a melee ranger….they are better in a skirmish anyway.

I’m a big ranger fan, but no.. An honest answer is a guardian like others allready stated.

Guardians are great as others have stated, but combo-ing with a mesmer is incredibly powerful also. Not to mention also that between the illusions and thieves guild you can summon a small army.

Mesmer. Take blinding powder. Be the same race/sex.

When the mesmer is putting out illusions, and people are trying to take it down, goes invulable, has decent burst, has stun, mass invisibility.

Next your blinding powder is aoe stealth, your stealth field is aoe stealth. If those clones go invis, it makes it so hard to track a mesmer. Also mesmer can blink away and keep up with you for awhile.

Me and a friend are very powerful with this mix.

2 thieves = 2 same professions = more boring then a thief/guardian imo.

I can see all sorts of mixes with thief/guardian. Most obvious, and prolly also strong, ones is guardian leaning more towards support and thief leaning more towards dps and control.
