Don’t kill yourself on an AFK necro pls.
We’ll see. I suspect that fewer, larger hits may be the way to break through that heal without killing yourself. D/D thieves specialize in just that. Not sure I’d want to throw a pistol whip at them, though.

We should start recording how quickly a Thief can kill himself. My bet is around 3 seconds.

Yea, I didn’t even think about that, but it’ll certainly hurt any attempted P/D build, which isn’t good news for anyone that wants to use venoms.
The Dec 10th changes seem to really push thieves more and more to either a D/D or D/P build.
As somebody with a necro main I can confidently say that most necros probably won’t run this skill. Consume conditions has always been one of the better gw2 healing skills. But even if they do, a thief who recognizes the signet and still presses unload probably deserves the damage he takes. Necro doesn’t have many good sources of retal anyways. I’m sure you thieves will find a way

You speak as if Power/crit P/P thieves had some other options to do damage – it’s unload or don’t bother. Essentially, P/P against this signet is “Run away”.
P/P is a bad measuring stick however, since it’s a really, really kittenty set. It doesn’t change the fact that in P/P’s current incarnation however, this signet is practically an autowin.

You’re exactly right, and that’s the sad thing sometimes in this game your best option is running away (think condi necro vs berserker stance/heal signet warrior). And yes p/p is a one-trick pony. I’m just saying in my original post don’t worry about every necro running this signet as consume conditions seems to still be better for most necros.

So if I attack a necro (who are already tanky), I’ll open with a c+d then into a backstab.
I’ll then auto a few times until the next c+d.
Every 2 attacks (double strike hits twice), i’ve healed him for 900 and done 1k damage to myself. That’s without him trying to attack me at all.
Necros are ridiculous enough once they go plague form i’m hitting for 200-300.
The only thing they’ll lose is a big emergency heal, so are more vulnerable to spike damage. As for sustain they’ll be just crazy.
The worst part is it’s a passive heal. Ours is on a 45 second timer.
I can’t see any spec apart from d/d being able to even dent necros now. Any class which isn’t huge spike won’t even be able to shift their health bars. Necros have just become the new warrior if that change goes through.
what the hell are you doing arena net? seriously? because necromancers needed to be even more invincible than they already are.
Again, I seriously doubt those are the real numbers we’re going to see on Tuesday.
Thieves will have to use Signet of Malice to try to recoup some of the lost health fighting a necro with that. That would definitely put a crimp on the way I play. :/
signet of malice will not be able to recoup it. signet of malice + slice of candied dragon roll + blood sigil + sword auto attack will.
