Better traps
I do not know. The other night in WvW I was facing a group that had a whole pile of Dragonhunters that were just dropping traps. I finally brought in my own DH and started the same. Then some rangers came in with their own.
it became a whole different stye of battle where one rarely fought the enemy directly and just ran around finishing those that were downed as entire areas of the map were covered in layers of traps.
needle trap is amazing i run it in 70% of my builds
shadow trap could be strong but it CD is to high and shadow return should be instant on destorying trap, to be worth looking at.
ambush trap sucks so does tripwire.

Needle trap only good when you’re running condi build, otherwise Ambush is the only trap worth bringing. I understand that some may not know the value of Ambush that’s why it sucks for them, but that’s fine.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
Tripwire is a 3 second knockdown but is only of real use for followups such as a fist flurry. OK in pve to breakdown defiance bars I guess.
For power needle trap so so as you only benefit of poison if you lacking and the immob. Not really worthwhile.
In my own power build I prefer shadowtrap over the ambush although both work very well. This a staff build and shadowtrap becomes 2 sources of stealth (using trappers) for an extra knockdown off hook strike and a vault from stealth into an enemy group after triggering a pursuit is just so rewarding with all that might and the fury.
I wish the cooldowns a bit lower but the larger detractor is time needed to cast pursuit.

I really want to like Shadowtrap but I have an issue with it so I don’t even bother. The range and the inconsistency of the shadowstep mechanic are my main issues. Short range use its great (long CD though) but other than that, it’s really a hit and miss for me.

I myself tend to only use shadowtrap at close range in the midst of a battle. Back in WvW old BLs i did a bunch of testing of the long range port to sort of map areas where it could be used. It was really all over the place sometimes allowing a long range port from the strangest of places back to the trap itself. It was kind of fun when it worked but just not consistent enough.
That said I have started using both in a revamped staff build using trappers runes. More hook strikes.
