don’t know if its considerd a bug but if you start a “pistol whip” and then steal while attacking and shadowstep with that steal you will continue the pistol whip at the new location. only thing i noticed how this can be exploitable is in pvp when someone moves behind you, you can then tele while perfoming the skill to place yourself correctly agian.

That’s not a bug, that’s just how Steal works. Using it will not cancel other skills.
All the rectangular shaped spells except shadow trap and ambush trap do not work correctly. Talking about :
- Smoke Screen
- Trip Wire
- Needle Trap
When an hostile triggers that trap, it’ll only apply it’s effect is a small part in the middle of the rectangle. Smoke Screen doesn’t blind people on the edges, Needle Trap and Trip Wire disappear and do not apply their effect at all.
The area of the trap apply zone looks circular in fact.
Please Please Please fix the hasted downing for thief…. there is a very harsh 1-2 second delay in the animation and the actual downing… the animation is of a hasted down but the time for the down to actually go of is the same as regular down… I will stomp someone wait a full second after it goes off then try to run away and it will say interrupted. It needs to be fixed to be more in line with the other classes hasted down such as warrior and ranger
dont know if it is a prob but, the teleport arrow of the shortbow. i cant reach the most spots. like the wvwvw jumping puzzle i like to teleport from the firts rockt to the other but i stay where i stood :o
The rendering issue regarding invisibility is still there. It takes a couple seconds before the thief shows up after attacking me in sPvP.
P.S. – I’m using a thief too.
Edit: Auto-attacking in stealth also annoys me. Auto-attack is supposed to be disabled when I stealth, but its not… More specifically, when I stealth it momentarily stops my attack. Then I move around, and all of a sudden it shoots my target (I’m holding a bow).

Destroy Shadowtrap does not grant stealth, the tooltip text suggests it would give 5 seconds of stealth.

I am concerned about Assassins Reward trait (Acrobatics trait line) in conjunction with Infusion of Shadows trait (Shadow Arts trait line) . You see whenever I use skill that successfully stealth me I receive 2 initiative back, therefore Assassins Reward should heal me for 6 ini , but at the moment it heal like I used 4 ini .
Working as intended or bug? Please clarify.

I’ve noticed that Blinding powder is very inconsistent with stealth. Sometimes I don’t get stealth even though the tool tip says I am stealthed and sometimes when i activate it I get a Revealed penalty and I have to wait 4 seconds to stealth again even if I never went stealthed prior to activating it. Its especially frustrating during PvP.
Trait: Hidden Killer
Description: 100% Critical hit chance while in stealth.
Bug: Only works with 3 second stealth. Staying in stealth longer will not activate Hidden Killer trait.
Video proof: in the begining of this video i stay around 4 seconds in stealth and when activating backstab – it doesn’t crit. Then i stay less then 3 seconds in stealth, and backstab crits. In the last segment i use Shadow refuge to stay for 10 seconds in stealth and again backstab doesn’t crit.
Hi, the trait is not bugged. It works as intended.
The problem is that you are starting your backstab while in stealth but you land it while out of stealth.
If you pay attention your stealth buff wears off before you hit the boar
This is due to the 1/4 sec cast time of bs.
You get the revealed debuff because it triggers when bs start. That is a bug correction done some patch ago for preventing that, using an appropriate timing a thief could be able to land a backstab and immediately restealth.
I think they should also modify the 100%crit to trigger when the skill starts and not when it ends.
When using sword the #1 attack can sometimes root you in combat if you dodge roll right before attacking.
Using blinding powder, and right as stealth is about to wear out cast shadow refugee you will appear out of stealth animation and you have to constantly look at your screen for it to show the stealth icon. It can get confusing sometimes in a large WvW fight because you tend to not know if you are still stealthed. Which throws you off for what you goals are, (like destroying siege fast, or taking out a key objetive)

I think this has been reported before but I thought I’d add my voice to this annoying bug.
When you have the Hidden Thief Trait, it works fine when you have a Dagger in your main hand but is broken when you have a Pistol in your main hand.
What it is doing; you Steal which successfully stealth’s you but then the Pistol auto attacks right away, breaking the stealth before I can do anything like a Sneak Attack.

This thread is bugged. It doesn’t seem to be doing what it should. Six pages of repeating the same bugs because it is so unorganized you can’t find what has already been said. OP needs to resume the task they started and organize this.
I dont have any problem to my thief and I can still roaming a lot of people w/out problem, i use short bow and no problem to cluster bomb., maybe your internet speed have problem thats why sometimes u cant detonate it., and when i stealth nobody can fire me., no problem to the thief im still OP., i love being OP imagine thief is the only 1 class can fight even 6 vs 1 or more., yeh nobody can kill thief., but if you are weak or playing like a noob you die.,
Pistol vital shot breaks blinding powder stealth very often, which then also triggers the stealth cooldown.
Its to do with the projectile speed if at close to max range, if i happen to use blinding powder the second ive fired an autohit i go stealth then the bullet hits breaking stealth.
If you infiltrators strike and get stunned/interrupted immediately after teleport, shadow return doesn’t replace it even though the starting/return ring is left on the ground.
Dodge on thieves seems to be bugged, and I think it’s due to the “shadowy dodge” built into this profession.
Specifically, the actual effect of the dodge seems to lag the animation by about 1/2 it’s duration, so you only evade if the attack connects on the second half of the animation.
The duration of the evasion is still the same, but the actual evasion itself comes in half-a-beat late, so you end up taking full damage in the beginning of the animation, and you could end up evading well after the animation.
Examples:
you see an attack incoming on a thief, you hit dodge, if the attack hits you within the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the animation, you will take full damage.
On any other profession without the fancy shadowy dodge animation, this would count as evaded.
specifically tested this on those rapid-attacking wasps in queensdale, and evade is much easier to come-by on a rapid-reaction basis on every other profession.
I spoke to other thieves in my guild and they note the same thing and that they had to adapt to it, but given the limited effective range of a thief’s max damage output, it’s vitally important that the effectiveness of dodge be the same as it is for other professions.
Dodge on thieves seems to be bugged, and I think it’s due to the “shadowy dodge” built into this profession.
I want to piggy-back off this and note that Withdraw suffers from this too.
When immobilized, Withdraw takes a half second to dodge back. Whereas its range is normally twice that of a dodge and happens instantly, there is instead a delay (almost as if struggling to break out of the immobilized) and it moves backward a fraction of its usual distance.
Please fix this issue. Can’t say how frustrating it is that Withdraw fails to actually “cure” immobilized because of this.

Fleet Shadow does not give a 50% movement speed increase, not while out of combat and not while in combat.
Compared distances we could run while in a 4 second stealth with swiftness or this trait and they’re the same, hence, Fleet Shadow is not working properly.
Blinding powder doesn’t always seem to stealth me, or, it doesn’t stop my attacks when I get stealthed so if I’m autoattacking, it instantly breaks stealth before I can do my sneak shot attack (what I’m stealthing for). I think it’s not cancelling attacks. I use shadow refuge and I always go into stealth and it stops attacks so that I can sneak attack.
This just today in maybe a hour of play my deception didnt work even once. I got unstealth every time when using a pistol. Same goes for steal stealth. Obviously bugs that need to be fixed because they make a thief broken.
This happens almost everytime when I`m using pistol. Blinding powder with pistol equiped doesn’t work as intended. You don’t get the invisibility but only the debuff. I don’t get it. Annoying really as it got me killed many times in wvw. Sheesh.

This seems to be a general “bug” – not specific to the weapon you use. I’ve found what happens is, depending on the situation, after using a stealth skill (usually Blinding Powder, or Steal) you will auto attack before becoming stealthed and are left unstealthed with the Revealed debuff.
The only way I’ve found to control this is to stop auto-attacking or try and make sure I’m at the end of the auto-attack chain when I attempt to stealth but even this sometimes doesn’t stop my toon from attacking as I use the stealth skill.
Infiltrators arrow doesn’t like gaps. And if, for some RP reason, i’m on the roofs in divinity’s reach, and i want to shadowstep, it will go through the animation, but not move me anywhere.
Not sure if it’s a bug, or it’s purposefully like that, but it would be nice if it wasn’t….

I continue take shots after stealth (not targeted before) by various skills like thief short bow autoattack randomly attacks me.
Guardian “pull” pulls me (in stealth) too.
Roll for initiative has 0.5-1 second lag before it breaks stun. While berserk thieves or warriors can 100% > 10% in a second, it is absolutely not acceptable.
Stealth should be ultimate survival ability, not just uselss smoking effect. Or give thieves more tougness/vitality. At this moment, thieves is the less fun and most difficult class in game.
I tried to play condition pistol thief today and it is absolutely annoying. I got more stress than pleasure.
Shadowstepping, it has undoubtedly been reported before, is bugged, glitched and inconsistent.
Is blinding powder suppose to count as an attack? Before I could use it while invisible while by enemies, but now it makes me be uninvisible, and gives me the debuff.

I want to know, stealthing while an enemy player/mob is channeling and said stealth not breaking the channel, is a bug or intended? I hope its a bug, because in the event that it isn’t, it completely renders stealth useless, both in pve and pvp.

Try dodge rolling then activating your stealth. At the end of the roll, your last hit should have contact, and you should be fine to stealth. Otherwise learn to turn away from the opponenet to stop shooting, or untarget, or have auto attack off.
I can imagine many things how to stop autoattacking. But i dont want to fight stupid mechanic. And i dont need advices how to do so. I want it to be fixed.
Well it is not a bug, so there will be no fix. Attacking from stealth, if you hit, will unstealth you.
How do you know it is not a bug? Are you a developer from arena.net? Or you just want so?

No I am not a dev, but the reason why I say this is a bug is it makes sense. You shot a bullet, went invisible while the bullet is inbetween you and your enemy, the bullet hits, you became uninvisible. Nothing wrong with it. Same exact thing happens in melee, you start an attack, you go invisible, you finish the attack, you become uninvisible.
Incorrect range values
While attempting to hit Jormag (last phase), I tried out using the Shortbow’s Trick Shot which has a range of 900. It managed to hit Jormag (damage was shown). It did not bounce off any other targets to reach him: I was targeting directly at him.
However, when I swapped to my other weapon set which is the Pistol + Dagger while still standing at the same spot, it wasn’t able to hit the exact same target on Jormag (Vital Shot’s range is also 900). It indicated “Out of range”. I tried moving a little bit around the area (forwards, backwards, sideways) but it still indicates “Out of range”.
With that being said, is there an issue with the Pistol and/or Shortbow’s range?
In short, the issue here is, both the shortbow and pistol’s first abilities have a range of 900 but the pistol is not able to hit the same target of what the shortbow is able to hit.

I would love to have this skill central to assassination – pull suitable target out to back row and perform murderous intent. Problem is that it works 50% of the time… not due to legitimate stuff like blocks and dodges, but because it just doesn’t work 50% of the time.
In testing in PvP last night I ended up throwing the wire out 60 times.
7 blocks (legit).
7 fails due to enemy state (I think stability is overriding the wire effect which is fine – legit).
4 dodges (legit).
9 obstructions that weren’t there. There was nothing there… (not legit).
11 inexplicable failures – wire goes out… hits guy with no special boons up… nothing happens.
6 partial successes. Either me and the target meet in the middle or we almost meet but he is not quite in melee range after the wire pull so I can’t hit him until I close a bit.
16 complete successes.
The failure rate is too high on the ‘unexplained’ front. Dodges blocks and stability are fair game… but from my testing there is a larrrrrrrge area of failures that have no discernible reason.
I have a question how come a thief when it goes into stealth and a guard puts down a symbol the thief doesn’t take damage? Also how come the thief can do finisher in stealth that really isn’t fair that we can see them if they finishing us off. I’m not bashing thief’s but there cloak is just to long and the stuff they can do in it to me isn’t very fair i can even kill a thief cause of the way stealth is.
I have Death Blossomed into many areas where I was completely stuck. There have been several instances but the only one area I can think of off the bat was I Death Blossomed into the pillar next to the waypoint at the Gates of Arah. I then can not waypoint out of it cause I am still in combat. so I have to relog or wait for someone else to kill my target.
sighs….combat mode bugs really anonying. 25 sigil stack > relogin to fix combat mode > sighs need to fill sigil stack again

have you seen the mesmers thread for this equivelant? Its a list of all the skills in one post. This would be great to compile because that way people could avoid specing into bugged skills.

Big problem I find with this is then you HAVE to cast it, instead of it being an instant. I use this all the time when i get KD’d and recieve a 100blades, that way I can start immediately healing through it. Plus then they have no clue if I really am there still or not, and causes confusion on when I get up and out and such.
I do not know if this is a bug or not. I have noticed it a few times when dueling in WvW and on the NPC’s in Heart of the Mists.
When you use the combo field of : Black Powder, followed by Heartseeker you get the stealth as planned. But when you are fighting against something you can hit the heartseeker, than hit Backstab right after since the heartseeker does not break the stealth.
Like i said before, i do not know if this is a bug or not. But with how precise you have to be with timing your stealth and attacks sometimes, this does seem a bit weird to be doing this.
Whenever a thief gets downed with a 2 ability in the air (most commonly cluster bomb), instead of the previous attack landing and doing dmg, the attack will land and force the thief to be teleported to the attack location. This is a MAJOR bug for thieves since not only does that forced teleport put the thief into a terrible position, it also burns the use of the ability by putting it on cd as if you chose to go there. This almost always results in a death for the player and is very unfair since there’s nothing you can do to avoid this if the 2 ability has already been cast.

Hi,
I’m not sure if anyone mentions this but Shadow Step/Return is bugged upon diving under water. If you Shadow Step to somewhere close to the water and then dive in, Shadow Return will immediately happen and you will be back at the place you started off your Shadow Step. This is very annoying and frustrating when I use it to escape certain combat areas like Cursed Shore and Malchor’s Leap. Just to get pulled back to the same mobs that I have escaped using Shadow Step. It is also annoying when I use it to travel across a map.
As for people who says Shadow Step does not break stuns, they do, but it is Shadow Return which breaks it. So if you are stunned or down, you got to Shadow Step and then re-activate it to get back up.
