If you drop 5 from CS you can get Exposed weakness for 10% more damage, which is probably better than the 5% crit damage and 50 precision you give up.

That could be a variation, for sure. The issue is dropping 50 precision, which lowers your crit chance by 2% and you lose out on potential backstab crits.
I would prefer 10/30/30 or 25/15/30…
DA 15 pt isn’t as good as it used to be, rather have 30 in crits. Second option would be for straight damage increase.
i think u NEED 30 critical strikes if u want to do any sort of direct damage. executioner and hidden killer are both extremely valuable. and that extra 10% crit chance and damage are so good.

You absolutely do not need either of those. You may not crit every time, but it’s all part of the play. You’re sacrificing that for a massive amount of survival, as well as heavy condition removal, might stacking and most importantly healing while in stealth.
First of all, nice build.
Second, this is not a legacy build.
The legacy build will always have 30CS using Hidden Killer. Even if your Crit Dmg is low, as long as your Power is high, you’ll hit like a truck with Backstab because it deals double damage (+100% dmg) plus your Crit Damage bonus.
You don’t need survivability since you won’t be auto-attacking. You’ll be dodging while revealed then go back in stealth.
You can stay with your build but you wont see “big numbers.”

PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.

“Legacy build” just refers to my character’s name, Kid Legacy. I’m also part of Team Legacy. Hence the name.

Ah gotcha. I apologize for not being familiar with that name since your title says something completely difference, hence the misunderstanding.
Nevertheless, you won’t see “big numbers” with your build.

Thoughts
1) You have 6 precision infusions and 1904 Precision, two of your infusions give you absolutely no benefit and are overtly expensive because they would have to be versatile precision infusions to go into the defensive infusion slots.
2) 100 Power, 10% Condition Duration, Lotus Poison and Dagger training is inferior damage compared to 100 Precision, 10% Crit Damage, First Strikes and either Hidden Killer or Executioner. And no, Lotus Poison doesn’t offer good utility to cover the damage loss.
3) # 2 more likely than not makes Power infusions better than Precision infusions, especially when you realize…
4) Oils are better than Stones, if you optimize your precision, which you should always do.
5) Also, that food is bad.

I finally geared the build out and tried it, along with other backstab builds. I can’t really say that the build is effective, but I’ve decided that I hate backstab builds. I’d rather have survivability over damage any day.
The thing is, when you say you’d take survivability over damage, that tells me you only see a backstab build as a glasscannon, which not all are. There is the popular balanced sister builds 10/30/30etc|0/30/30/10 etc that are popular. They offer dmg, AND survivability, just not as much extra dodges.

That’s really the only way to get big numbers. If you want to insist in survivability, then maybe build a Condition based instead. At least that way, your damage is much better.

From my experience if a thief gets locked down by some form of CC and his stun breakers are on cd then it’s luck if they make it out alive. My thief isn’t full GC and I still hit super hard but I have come to understand that sometimes that extra survivability is worthless if you can’t drop your target.
You can also argue that skill + high burst dps will be more effective than someone running PvT with the same build as you. Prior to the regen buff patch for warriors this is how I played my warrior and thief. Full on offense and only relying on well placed dodges and utilities to keep me going. I enjoyed that high risk/high reward gameplay.

Not true. You still have access to shadowstep to get out of a tight spot. Typically using Steal even while knocked down.
EDIT:
In addition, this is the situation when I use my Signet of Shadows for blind to buy some time, or interrupt the CC chain, especially useful against KD warriors.

I generally run a s/p evade thief who uses a water runes and has 6 teleports and 6 consecutive dodges on command. I rarely die in WvW, and if I do it’s because a) I have no critters or trash mobs to grapple to and fro, or b) because I let them kill me. The Hard To Catch trait is amazing for fighting CC warriors or HGH engineers, and having access to 3 stun breakers plus steal on top of said trait makes it very difficult to get locked down. I don’t know. I guess I just can’t play orthodox builds (like I attempted here).

Maybe you should try playing a good one instead of this build you posted and created just to try and be a special snowflake and different?

I do play good builds. I specifically stated that I don’t play backstab builds, and this was my attempt at one. Not please stop acting like I’m a bad player or something because I posted one bad build. I’ve always played unorthodox builds and done a kitten good job with them. If you can’t post anything nice, don’t post at all. This thread was dead 3 days ago.
This build is bad. There is absolutely no reason to take ‘dagger training’ when you could get executioner along with 10% crit damage and 100 precision.
Taking signet of spite is also a really bad idea since a build like this out in the open will get totally destroyed. Both roll for initiative or hide in shadows would be much better. In addition, the most obvious weakness of the build is that d/d gets totally wiped by D/P if both are played at the same skill level.
