Hey guys. I’ve got my thief to lvl 80 not too long ago and I was hoping to get some opinions on a build before I start using up gold/resources to create it.
The idea I had for this is to have a bunker condi thief for WvW and sPvP. I don’t anticipate downing an enemy within a few seconds like most zerk thiefs but I was wanting to have good survivability.

That is the link to the build I am considering.
What I would like to be able to get out of this build is high regen and good condition damage. The concern I have with this build is I do not have too much in my condition duration and I feel that may be my downfall since it’s nearly all coming from food.

I’m looking for your thoughts. Will the setup I currently have be enough condition damage/ duration? Will it supply me with enough regen/ tankiness?

Thanks Everyone!

Well…if you really want to be that Kind of thief…go full Dire gear, trinkets, weapons evrything, change built to 2/0/6/0/6 with perplexity runes, heal is hide in shadows or withdraw, utilities are shadow refuge / shadowstep / infiltrator Signet / Elite is basilisk venom.
This is the max possible ubertroll built.

If you want to go as bunker as u can get with P/D go for oldschool 0/0/6/4/4 with withdraw as heal and vigor on heal and on steal, no bullkitten perplexity and other “meta” junk. Thats the “max possible ubertroll” build and not 2/0/6/0/6. Withdraw and 20 in acro (vigor on heal and pain response) add tons of survivability while giving up interupt with perplexity proc.

As nice as perplexity is I don’t have any desire to use that with my thief. I also was not trying to make a troll build. I see how a Dire set of armor is helpful however I still want to maintain high healing vs having a bit more life.

But what I gathered is that the setup I have (though I might tweak it slightly) will give me plenty of survivability and should still get the job done.

I was just looking for something different than the usual zerk stealth/back stab and flanking strike over and over thieves that I usually see.

You are losing a lot of condition damage picking apothecary instead of dire.

Healing power is not a good stat for thieves , every other stat will help more unless you are engaged in long fights without ever going out-of-combat.

Healing power works a bit like vitality except vitality is used x10 and healing, at around x1, depending on the healing skill used. Vitality defines your initial health-pool, it’s like a big, upfront heal – about twice the size of regular heal. Healing skills heal of a large amount of health, independent of any stat, plus an amount that is based on Healing Power, scaled with a factor of ~1. Roughly estimating, you’ll need fights lasting for at least two heals before Vitality starts to loose significance when compared to Toughness and a heal or 10 before Healing Power becomes a factor compared to Vitality.

At that point you may want to look at Celestial rather then Apothecary, because now Celestial boosts a lot of your relevant stats, Toughness, Healing Power and Vitality for bunkering, but also Condition Damage, Power and Precision – and yes even Ferocity. Imo, for a bunker, Celestial is a better choice then Apothecary.

Bunker in spvp are supposed to stand on point, you can’t do that with a single target ranged weapon set that enter’s stealth or backsteps.

Bunker thief isn’t nearly as viable as any other but I’ve made one with so-so results. I can hold out on a 3v1 w/o stealth but it comes down to the build of those 3 more than my build’s capability. Unfortunatly healing power sucks on thief so it’s hard to ever make a bunker thief viable anywhere else than a gimmick for hotjoin.

Well that makes a lot of sense frans. I see what you mean, comparing the vitality and healing power. I haven’t considered celestial but I will look into it, see how the armor set would affect the thief.
I’m also going to reconsider the Dire set, since it’ll give me the toughness I want and even more conditions than celestial.
Thanks for the much needed input and thoughts guys!
