not enough poison to match the damage of a burn engi/guard, and weakness is a defensive condition, not a damaging one.
the only thing that bothers me about burning is Guardian, i just cant stand that long and heavy stack of burning from them. cant say much about engi because rarely anyone plays that class now

Also depends on how you define “distractions”, setting something on fire could be distracting for the opponent.

Im sure they could squeeze it in I always thought cluster bomb when u explode it could add bleeds and burns even if it’s just one stack since u can spam cluster bomb. Or maybe even add it to the trait that increases bow damage, “increase now damage and cluster bomb also adds one stack of burning when detonated” I don’t think it’s too op it would be really strong but not break the class imo

Actually, yeah, why doesn’t cluster bomb cause burning…? It EXPLODES for fudge sake. Where does the bleeding come from? Shrapnel? The splinters caused by wooden arrows? I would be down if it gave both burning and bleed.
The thief does have a lot of poison and bleeds. Minor access to torment and confusion, too. In PVE I get 7k ticks of poison with spider venom + venomshare on a single target. That’s what 30 stacks of poison will do to someone. If you run with a team in WvW you’ll have a similar effect.
Though I’m not sure this is about condi builds necessarily. The thing with burning is that it is strong enough to be useful outside of condi builds. Thieves get a lot of the second best condition, which is poison. The main advantage of poison is the -33% effect it has on heals. Assuming the enemy does heal, this can be seen as 1.5k-2k damage.
That said, I would like better access to some of our other conditions. We are getting some with Daredevil’s condi dodge, but still, I would like to see minor buffs to dagger training and increased bleed duration to the pistol’s auto attack and stealth skill.
