Caltrops stack?
yes it does stack.
So more oftenly you dodge to cause Caltrops, so more bleeding do you generate if that foe stands in all those created caltrops fields for all the timre the caltrops effect lasts.
This is why you should quickly move out of them if you see an enemy thief using it on you, so that the bleedings don’t stack quickly to a high deathly amount and which is also the reason, why Ghost Thieves are so efficient with their build to kill foes through all the condition burst silently withotu having to make a single weapon skill’s attack that would reveal them.
Every Dodge Caltrops creates just like the Utility Skill a small spot that causes 2 Stacks of Bleeding for 5 seconds. only difference is, the Utility Skill Version has greater range and has therefore its Skill Cooldown.
So if you manage to cause through multiple dodges to create these spots and they cross each others effect area, then their effects stack if a foe stands literally in both caltrops spots.
See this video about a Ghost Thief which caltrops a foe to death
Watch at the Bleedign Stacks how quickly they rise once the caltrops is in effect and doesn’t got moved out or the bleedings removed, due to being lieign already downed on the groudn from the whole condition damage burst
Another good video on that which shows the good synergy between the Caltrops Dodge Trait and the Ghost Trapper Build, which is why the game is so infested with this, since Anet changed the Conditions

Just imagine on hitting on a group of these, of fast you lie dead on the ground, without ever seing what happens around you, unless you have skills with you to reveal them or let them run all luckily at the same time into an anti stealth trap in regard of WvW.
Unless you get revealed is this build so OP, that you can basically unendlessly toy around with your foes, if you make no big mistakes or the foes making some lucky strikes into the air without knowing, that they actually hitted you good enough to defeat you and you had no chance to rally up, before your stealth ends.
As AoE spam, reveals and peole which know Thief gameplay and can make well guesses about it where you are now to actually hit you with melee attacks to force you to retreat are the only ways, that work agaisnt this build.
But that won’t say you, if you hit on a whole group of Ghost Trapper Thiefs.
Even just 2 are enough to literally destroy you quicker, than you can react due to one responding to your defensive evade tries from behind, while the other aggressively forces the traps upon you by direct confrontation to keep you basically perma knocked downed and full of bleeding ect. until you are at least downed so that they can quickly finish you safely off, or in case of one being Daredevil, instantly finish you off with their Elite Skill.
Caltrops on dodge is 3 possible stacks if enemy stands almost perfectly still for 3 seconds. Usually it is worth a couple of extra stacks of bleed in a real fight.
In PvE it can stack a lot more because monsters won’t move or have a big radius that means moving around won’t stop the caltrops from pulsing.
Unlike traps this skill and trait more specifically never revealed thieves. Orpheal needs to calm down and stop insisting everything ghost thieves use is OP. I use caltrops but I’m not perma stealth. So do many other thieves. It is a nice cc (cripple) and extra damage mechanic that helps me control my opponents positioning.
Hey :P
I never said, that everyone uses this build. I just said from my personal observation, that I find this build OP, because it gives you litterally when played well and you meet not in combat on any counter build a free total fool’s license over your enemy.
As you play the build self, you know this most likely better than me, how you can toy around with enemies with this playstyle like a cat playing with its prey around.
I’m more the confrontation and evade type of Thief player, not the stealthy sneaky trap foes to death one :P
Well I don’t use traps, I’m a P/D thief that uses kiting against some opponents. If they get close I can dodge away and leave them crippled.
You can see some random gameplay videos in my signature if you are curious about how it plays generally.
