Hi all.

To the Subj. I’m going to make asc. armor for my thief and wondering is celestial good enough (since last changes +6%) or should i craft simple Bers. I’m playing PvE mostly of the time, rare WvW, and asking you for the help to decide.

In my opinion if you are going for straight damage, Celestial is not a good option. I could see it being used on a hybrid condition/power thief for Wvw, mixed with Celestial/Dire/Rabid/Knights trinkets, but nowhere else.

it seems like only ele’s and engi’s feels good in celestial (optional).
so, ‘cause i’m not a true pvp player, there’s also no point to make any tough/vita armor
perhaps i will just craft bers asc.

I run Celestial ascended with traveler’s runes, with Knights trinkets (S/D 2/6xx/6) . Celestial is also good when using my Hybrid build. Celestial even though it did get nerfed, is still viable for Thief.

Not really.

Everything is viable in PvE. If he wants to use celestial, that’s fine.

i have full asc bers warrior for pve/www and i was thinking what if i could play as a celestial thief. its should be good and for pve and for www without gear changing . somth like that

1. Wearing Celestial gear would not be so detrimental to your pve experience that it would render it impossible, however to say it would be good for PvE would be false.

Personal Thoughts – It will make content take longer and give very little in return. That is the cost of convenience though you can use the same gear for power or condition, it will be a weaker choice for either, but you can sacrifice effectiveness to save gold on gear. You only want celestial gear if you are going to be utilizing 4+ stats which a thief typically doesn’t.

2. Statistically it would not be an optimal choice for WvW under most circumstances. (There are a very few niche hybrid thief builds that can be effective and do use it.)

WvW – Beserker, Valkyrie, (Soldier/Beserker Mix )*

Don’t go making hasty generalizations. Rampagers are good, as well as Assassins/Knights.

Even soldiers, valk, cavalier, celestial, all have their place

I have done some rough calculation: if you are only looking at the average damage output from the combination of power, precision and ferocity, celestial is about 62% of a full berserker setup; condition damage 59% of a full condition setup. With celestial, however, you get a bit more toughness and health comparing to a full berserker.

Normal mobs in PvE just do not last long enough against a full berserker. But tougher bosses, I think, a balanced build with better survivability like celestial can make life a bit easier.

By the way, if you mix rampager and berserker, you get 65% of damage of both a full berserker and a full condition setup. That is the best hybrid build I can come up with for a 2/0/6/0/6 thief.

and the main problem is to decide what could be more usefull due to gameplay.
