CND is hitting in many of might fights WITHOUT revealed up/on and not giving stealth. there is also some lag since the last patch that many have also stated so i know its not me and everything on my computer is very high end.

how many others are having CND problems?

lol feels like it but no. alot of thieves telling me the same thing ive been getting. CND not giving stealth or missing or causing instant revealed. some wierd stuff going on.

most thieves are d/p and s/d right now so alot prolly arent seeing it but yeah. big problems with it

I was playing in hot join last night and I did notice the “instant revealed” when I used CnD. Not sure what’s the deal but perhaps it’s my dancing daggers still bouncing around when I went in stealth. Not really sure.

I’ve seen the bug where I’m still visible (looks like it’s only I who can see myself) but the stealth buff is up, so I guess it’s just a visual bug that I can see? :S

This occurs yeah.
Also in hectic team fights you might get stealth from team mates then your next attack (CnD or mug) gives you revealed, or walking out of a friendly refuge.

I’ve been playing quite a lot of d/d lately in both spvp and wvw and haven’t noticed anything.

Yeah that happens to me also, but I’m not sure if it’s the GW client or my GPU driver failed to render my Thief invisible.

I’ve noticed a lot of pre-cast delay in my weapon skills for my thief in general since the last major patch.

It seems we get glitchier every patch.

I had that happen with Shadow Refuge actually.

I sat in it for full duration, the refuge disappeared, I took one step and got revealed debuff.

ok maybe its a visual/lag problem with the game. it only just started since the patch.

I’ve seen this many times in other games also, where the game supports low end computers.

Low end computers process things slower and the server tries to compensate with that by slowing down the high end computer causing them to lag. Now by doing so, the server is now creating a bottle neck of data on the high end side, thus sometimes your character just zooms thru like “The Flash” only to rubber-band back because the server correction triggered; and the server dumps all the data you’ve issued which causing some of your skills to fail.

It’s dumb that games has to cater with low end computers, but that’s how they want to run their business. Other developers has better game design that they prioritize gameplay data over visual data — unfortunately, GW2 relies on the visual data to indicate the spells and the skills being used, thus we get this kind of problem.

But as long as it’s not happening often enough (“often” based on my irritation threshold), I don’t really mind at all. GW1 was the worst when it comes to flashing-forward and rubber-banding backwards. There are other games who cater to low end computers are far worst than GW2. So my threshold level is really high.

i cant duel with any effectiveness …. i mean my build kinda relys on invis for healing…blinds…defense….dmg….and condition removal. if most of my CNDs fail like that… im dead.

i mean its so bad i lost to a necro for the first time since i can even remember.

im telling you ,it’s a stealth nerf

im getting this too since the last patch, sometimes cnd wont make me stealth and BS wont activate. what going on?

same with sneak attack. even if i do CND successfully it wont go off. so the stealth attacks and stealth activating skills are all kinds of messed up. im going to open a thread in BUG section. make sure you all comment too plz.

@red spectrum ….no. it seems to be game related. not my computer and not my sigils/equipement. its in spvp the worst but also wvw. idk about pve as i dont pve much b ut i imagine so there as well.

Wierd I was only in pve today so i cant really vouch, Ill check tomorrow though

This might explain the problem. Solution? Anet should make sure stealth is applied after all CnD weapon and sigil damage.

i am using neither, i am using, bloodlust, night, force and air all has the same effect. this is so frustrating my burst relies on CnD, got owned several times already ohh man!

Weird bug though, only thing I can think of is if you have an on crit sigil (fire or air) that procs when you C&D and gives revealed. Heard they kittened that up.

To the op you may have been blinded, blocked, or could be lag. Also if you use steal on an engineer a get the gunk an use it, when you try to stealth near or on the gunk field you get an instant reveal debuff .

I’m glad I’m not the only one with this problem. been noticing this alot too where cloak and dagger’s arent landing because of skill lag and when it hits I’ll be stealthed then immediately revealed. also theres been about a 2-3 second delay using sneak shot where I hit this skill and it doesnt fire until Im revealed..so then obviously it isnt even sneak shot anymore. I dont play on the best gaming set up but I have a decent system, this skill lag/revealed bug has only started in the last week.

I really think something is messed up on arenanets end, other players/classes have been saying they’re experiencing the same kind of problems with their character. Last night in world verses world myself and 5 different players on different ends of the map all got the same lag spike, we froze in place for a good 5-10 seconds

seems that it shows up as lag on video ….and sometimes other stuff too. but i am not almost certain its a server lag issue that ew arent seeing what is ACTUALLY happening. but its fed to us after we already do it and lose it ….but there are times i go instant revealed or cant use my stealth attacks in stealth. wierd stuff is going on.

Watched your vid Travlane and you are trying to cloak while revealed is still up, thats not lag, just bad timing. TBH you just played really badly, the first immune you threw a junk while in stealth that revealed u and then you tryed to cloak immediantly, and the 2nd immune was because you attacked with cloak while in stealth…

0_o i have a 50 to 1 kill death ratio…….roughly give or take….. 6250 achievement points…… full hall…..legendary (almost 3)…..3k hours logged on thief……5 suites of armor….10 weapon sets…. 4 lvl 80s…..(only the important ones lol) anyone not a bragging session my points is i know kitten well what timing is. i can get CND to go off with stealth so fast it seems like revealed is still on.

what you are seeing in a video is not what we are seeing while playing. i have been on thief for 9 months and have pretty much mastered every build (other than p/p) so all the sudden complaining about a bug like this or maybe its lag or bottle necking information from game to desktop/laptop is debateable. what i do know is its not a L2P issue. many experienced thieves are having this problem. it is 100% on anets end.

if need be ill show you videos from 2 weeks ago that are quite contrary to what u are seeing here. hell i didnt even think it could have been lag until i saw the playback. the playback is different bc its a constant flow of information which is recorded as it comes thru even tho we send/recieve it a little differently while playing. when a video recording program records something it attaches to the “window” or “program” of your choosing. You might think it attaches to your screen information and whatever you see on your screen is what the camera records….although it may lag while playing the camera recorder is still getting an even flow of information and recording it as the order of action …..which is different from what the screen actually shows. Basically if you record guild wars and go afk dancing then press the windows logo or go to home screen and minimize GW2 and go play poker online….the recorder will still be recording the game and everythign that happens there…. even tho your poker game is playing it wont be viewed on the playback. it literally attaches to the program.

this is not a lag or timing or whatever, fact is a lot of guy are having this issue, i even cnd a vet sentry and it often fails now its like a 70% chance to fail stealth. this did not happen before only this patch.

Seriously, I’d love to see any video clips of C&D not proccing stealth when it should, but all we’ve got right now is “It doesn’t work sometimes, fix it” which is kind of suspect when other people are seeing it work constantly and consistently.

@softspoken….. jesus ok listen…..when we are playing and CND we HEAR it hit the oppnent and no stealth…or insta reveal…..no whether that is what is happening or not i dont know! the video comes out different than we see it on the game. its not 100% of the time but a decent enough proportion to make a complaint.

Whenever someone says “it doesn’t work sometimes” I replace it with “there are circumstances altering its behavior that I might not have noticed” until they can give me a specific, repeatable scenario, or a video such that I can examine the behavior. Otherwise I can end up wasting hours using CnD in various contexts and never find anything.

Edit: Implying number of hours played is what counts.

well i have prolly more hours than you on thieve and can play any build extremely well. the poitn is not that im better than you but im experienced enough to know when there is a problem vs player error. thats all i mean

this is not l2p issue, i only use thief fact is it is only toon i have, i will have my nuts cut off and delete 3 my legendaries if this is l2p but its not. ive been ambushing, fighting, roaming duel and zerging and it is the first time it really happened in my 4 months of playing. even fails on a simple mobs.

Its not a stealthnerf, its more like an annoying bug. If you have air/flame sigils, and your Cloak n Dagger hits a crit, triggering the sigil, the damage from the sigil will cause you being revealed.

Its like trying to trigger stealth with a smoke field →big ol bomb. For some reason the aoe dmg from that bomb is separated into two so it stealths and reveals you instantly

I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but that little video was everything but well played. You clicked your skills, you didn’t kite them at all, just stood there. You hardly evaded any attack and you mistimed your C&D twice.

This brings me to my next point: Where in your vid does it show the bug? The first immune you get is after you throw the gunk and try to stealth about 1.5 seconds after it, the second time you get immune is when you use C&D when you still have revealed on as well.

I haven’t had this bug happen to me once, only that since the patch I have noticed when I throw the skill the you steal from an engineer, it now has damage pulses which reveal you.

The bug might be there, but this vid doesn’t show it. And maybe you should not think so high of yourself.

Edit: I just saw it again, and the second immune is even worse than I thought: You use C&D just after you used the throw hairs skill…

exactly…CND after throw hairs(feathers) skill? who does that. your deduction skills are horrendous :P srry man ur way off base. alot of other players are having similar problems.

anyway i msged anet about this problem and from what i hear its due to a server skill lag not just player end. so it will be fixed from what im hearing guys. hopefully sooner the better. was in a duel with an ele tnite and i used HIS 4 or 5 secs after revealed was gone and i didnt even invis…or attack i was running….wierd.

maybe HIS was my fault too :P

I really don’t see how a dueling challenge, bizarre as it might have been since you just asked me what server I was on with zero context as a way to start the conversation, has to do with the authenticity of a bug.

That said, this thread is starting to hit critical mass, so I’ll probably bow out and keep my eyes open for future threads describing bugs.

maybe he was dueling you to show the CnD bug? but anyway we are all thieves here so lets just help each other out instead of just arguing.

@Travlane: Sure, you can show me a vid where you play to perfection, just for the reason that I like seeing good thief vids. My point is that your vid doesn’t show anything. If you now show a vid where you take on 8 people flawlessly it would indeed be strange, but to me it seemed that the times you got immune were just played badly, since you also click your skills and didn’t use evade at the right times I concluded you were not as good as you said you were.

So basically: You can show me a vid where you play well, however, I will probably not immediately agree with you that there is a bug, just because in one vid you played well and in another you didn’t. Sometimes I mistime my CD as well and other fights I don’t so…

I would be up for a duel somewhere next weekend if you want. I will contact you in-game Note that I’m not dueling to show you that you’re not a good player, nor do I say I am one. I just like duels

@phoenix yeah i get what you mean. i am a very good thief. what you see in the video never happens. what is happening is either lag or something else that i cant explain bc what im seeing in game doesNOT match what i see in the playback of the recording. on the video you see me CND after i stealth…literally right after. thats not what i saw in game. what i saw is no stealth so i CND to try get stealth. get it?

you will get revealed if any of your previously used skills hit something after you go in stealth. Like throw gunk or aoe skills from ele weapons, or even long range attacks (cluster bomb > stealth > cluster bomb hits > revealed)
