At the moment i’m using a d/d specced condition build (spam deathblossom) and works well, but wondering if i am missing out by not going crit damage on my thief?
pve only
I worry that in going crit damage spec i’ll be just a lesser warrior who does less damage and killed easier…
plus, useless at backstab – always run out of stealth when i try to get behind someone

Thoughts?

I was a condiiton dmg Thief also, until I realised that condition dmg is somewhat lackluster in design (one stack for everybody), which was holding my dmg back (I could do 25 stacks of bleeding on my own).
So now I´m running Backstab build with valkyrie equipment and performing very well. And it is more challenging than the condition (you should really time your dodges, because you don´t evade 90% of time like the DB spam builds.)

Well, as i said, i find stealth always runs out before i get behind the monsters so i just do normal damage which is lackluster

Hmm, interesting, I don´t have such problem… 4 seconds of stealth seems more than enough to get behind the mob and stab him.
And of course, I´m trying to stay behind the mob all the time, because it means +7% crit chance with my build.

I’d suggest to go full burst.

I leveled my thief from level 1 to current lvl 55 with pretty much same build as the build I’m playing in PvP (backstab burst) and it’s far too easy to do anything. Even playstyle is pretty much the same, Mug+CnD+Backstab for single target awesomeness, SB for large scale AoE fun.
Only harder part is to learn when you should go melee and when it’s time to pull SB out.

I never really had problem with getting my stabs out, 3s of cloak is enough, since you should be near mob anyway, it’s not that problematic to get to his back (and even if it is … well it’s one backstab and we’re talking about PvE, where u have plenty of time to setup another backstab). There’s no collision detection, so u can just run through mob…
