Guild Wars 2

Hey guys my name is Markus Valadir and ive just launched my new channel deticated to the thief proffession. Im going to post different builds that i make myself and all of them will have videos to show playstyle. be warned thou, some of the vids will have troll elements :P

anyways, for my first build i bring to you the Condd solo spec! aka old faithfull.
This spec is called old faithfull because it practically never lets me down and its strong in just about anything but big groups fights with 20+ people. its perfect for roaming with good movement speed and teamsupport in the shadows refuge.

Im running: Pistol/Dagger + Shortbow

Deadly arts 20 – Mug + Quick Venoms
Shadow arts 30 – Cloaked in shadow + Infusion of shadow + shadows rejuvenation
Trickery 20 – Thrill off the crime + bountyful theft

My Clothes – Toughness ´precission Condition damage
My Jewels – Power Vitality Condition damage
Weapons – Power vitality Condition duration.
Sigils – +5% crit and sigil of generosity

There is a pretty famous build that looks a bit like this one, or at least it has the same general playstyle. The “Wild Bill” set up, go give him some love aswell he is an amazing player. this is however not the same spec, as you can see the traits are completly different and the utillities aswell. This set up takes a little more skill to play (my oppinion) but will reward you with more damage, more stunbreaks, more condition removal and more initiative which allows for more moveabillity.

People have been asking why i use the shortbow and not the D/D as my second weapons. The reason for this is that i dont think the extra weapons are really needed in actual combat. The way thiefs work with their initiative mechanic makes it so that we practically have no CD on abillities and we can then choose to focus those initiative points on certain abillities. This build focuses them into stealth, slow and escape. Why the shortbow then? because its great for catching up on people and for mooving around the map, wont use it in actual combat.

I opt for shortbow over d/d as well; having high-range, ground-targeting attacks — as well as Infiltrator’s Arrow — provides greater versatility in most situations (for me, at least).

I think p/d is quite boring though.

Its different I guess since you are running Rabid gear with carrion trinkets mixed in no points in acro I guess.

In your opinion your style takes more skill then the traditional wild bill but I have to disagree bill doesn’t run a stun breaker or shadow refuge. P/D isnt super fun to watch unless its like some kind of 1v4 you can pull off. Why Wild Bills videos are better than most P/D videos is because he doesn’t run shadow refuge he is running 2 venoms and SoS tht takes more skill imo since he has no get out jail cards.

Im sure he dies Im sure he has been baslisk 2 shotted before for entertainment he doesnt show those. 1v1 just isnt very entertaining.

Just my opinion though.

i can se where you are getting at with the amount of skill it takes to pull this off, and i agree my thourght was that i have less HP and less healing so to survive u would have to move more around and be smart with the shadows refuge. But i guess u can make an argument in both cases.

It starts with 1v1 and goes to 1v3. In part 2 i show a stupid clip of me vs more people.

Just watched part 2 now part 2 was pretty funny. Part 1 is meh but I liked part 2. You could tell that char thief was mad at the end he was spamming heartseeker so bad lol.

i will keep the “no 1v1s” in mind for my next vid

You could say that in face of other videos, but not in this case. The OP is horrible. Clicking Shadow Refuge and Shadowstep is so horrid i have no words to describe it, so I’ll just mention it. You move the cursor to the skill, click, than move it again to the desired spot, than click again, well, its easy to imagine…
DJay is absolutely right, people have no notion of what is worth showing or not.
And there is more: the players he was facing were abismal, in the jumping puzzle video they are absolutely excruciating, seeing those 2 elementalists die to bleeding like that, with plenty of time to watercleanse the conditions made my eyes bleed themselves. And please, no more troloro music next time, it was this self presumptuousness expressed by the music that prompted to make this critique.
Also, just to mention Wild Bill, no one should cite or use Wild Bill as an example, he is what i call a pice of sheet, he is/was an exploiter, bug abuser, and completely devoid of any sense of fairplay, the reason he played without stunbreakers and other shadow refuge like abilities was that whenever he was downed he use the alt+f4 technique. I played this p/d for a long time in desolation and NEVER EVER i did use keep/tower/door watever bugs in my favor nor did i alt f4ed my way out of it, just to deny badges to my killers, under the assumption that they were not worthy, as he himself explained.

Ever play a thief and I don’t mean the cursory I have a level 10 one I’m leveling I mean really play one? Or if you have have you even run a no stealth build? Ever play a class with access to protection?

The reason I ask these questions is that if the answers to questions 1 and 2 are “No” you should shut up since you don’t understand the class you are commenting on. If the answer to question 3 is also "No"’; then you don’t understand the defensive mechanics in the game and you should definitely have noting to comment on.

As far as PD and the videos. I gave up on PD like 4 months ago for being a build where you press 2 buttons usually. I cant hate on what it does but I mean its 2 buttons. However if you press those 2 buttons like a boss you could kill someone standing in the middle of a raid and down them. There is nothing wrong with sharing your WvW spvp or pve experiences that’s what this place is for anyway so thanks for posting.

Any decent or good player facing a decent or good PD Thief only needs to do one simple thing, Turn around and walk away, a PD Thief cannot catch up to you, nomatter how fast they are, What are they gonna do to stop you?

In what world do you live in that a P/D thief can’t switch to another weapon set to chase?

I do it all the time, Unless you’re like an Elementalist and maybe some type of warrior, I’m going to catch up with you.

sorry for taking your time, my vid is not worth showing, self presumptuous and makes your eyes bleed – thou if it was that terrible to you i would suggest to stop the vid when u realized it was kitten and do something better with your life. Either that or doing a " what i would have done instead" comment instead of just rage, then both of us would have got something from the experience instead of just bleeding eyes

Err yes.. to all three thanks for asking :-) used many combo’s from dd blossom cond build (little stealth o that) to dd backstab build and even the boring but effective p/d build. I also play Warrior and power necro.
And in the video… what were players stood around doing nothing when he casts shadow refuge? any decent players would have aoe’d the crap out of the place.

I have to disagree Daecollo It depends on what your running as your other set. I run SB and between SB and Dancing dagger there is enough cripple and mobility to catch pretty much anyone sometimes I have trouble catching a ele but thats about it or a warhorn warrior occasionally.

Any good p/d thief can tell when the enemy is about to run. Most people in WvW leave when its to late anyway and they are about to die.
