Confusion spam
Options > key bindings > bind “Stow/draw weapons”
Wait for confusion to wear off while avoiding all attacks, attack the kitten out of them when everything’s on cooldown.
Lyssa runes are your best bet, wait for them to blow mirror images, decoy
get rid off all confusion stacks / conditions by triggering basilisk venom, burst them down.
but in general just run, they are a pain in the kitten to fight and no fun at all.

that is why i wrote spam..you can’t really wait out the confusion to wear off as it just gets reapplied again besides thieves are squishy, they don’t have luxery of “waiting out” and stealth lasts only so long
and yes i am using lyssa runes and condi removal on stealth… it just can’t keep up with confusion spam but since i don’t know mesmers that well i thought someone could give me an advice how to deal with it

Now you understand how mesmers feel fighting a thief
Mesmer is a better dueling bclass than thief most of the time a good memser will beat a good thief.

^ you are missing the point of the thread, he needs advice against confusion stacking mesmers and not hear your opinion about the classes.

hush little mesmer, this is the thief corner, back to your sub-forum
But I have a thief too I can’t be accepted anywhere!
Edit: I should probably actually give some advice. The current confusion set up for mesmer (depending on if they depend on shatters for confusion or just scepter spam/perplexity) can be delt with fairly easily (at least in my opinion) by traiting your stealth to cleanse conditions. Abuse the fact that mesmer illusions don’t move and use them to C&D (if you run off hand dagger). I can testify that it’s literally the most annoying thing you can do, and I myself do it on my thief.
If they are running a confusion set up using shatters to stack confusion, then they are probably sacrificing some toughness/stealth (from traits) to instead trait into illusions for shatters. That means they just drop faster.

Without the stealth clearing condition trait there really isn’t a way. Cloak and Dagger won’t hurt you if it removed the confusion.
Then there’s Signet of Agility, and pre-setup shadow return~ only drops one condition though so you might end up still stuck with it forever and just have to stow weapon and run away crying.
