Guild: Legion Thirteen [LT]

Hey all,
I took a break from this game for a bit and now im back and i made a new thief. I played a dps guardian but wanted something more “in your face”. I am playing a S/D build since it feels more thief-ish to me and i was wondering what crit% should i be aiming for to do damage without sacrificing to much in other important areas? Im looking for a sweet spot to start out and ill adjust to fit my play style and to how comfortable i get with the class as i go. I looking to mainly WvW this is character if that helps out at all.
thanks for the help in advance
Full berserker is all you need.
(not even joking).
I’ve been running full zerk from day 1 and it still works a charm. Some people like to play Valkyrie and take the 100% crit from stealth trait, but in my opinion berserker is far better.
Try to aim for 50% crit chance before fury, my thief kinda feels impotent if I run with less than that.
Edit: The full zerker comment isn’t too far off actually, I run soldiers head chest and legs with mostly everything else zerker now. Try to get your base power above 2.2k base, as long as you have a good crit chance power is generally more effective than ferocity it seems.

Over 60% chance is when you see diminishing returns. But who am i.. I only have 100% crit chance with full stacks. Mr.NevermissAcrit
No need to exceed 50% critical chance with s/d, you can go with even less if you have access to fury. If you’re using d/x it’s a little different since the primary damage is likely BS which is rather disappointing if it doesn’t crit. In full zerker it can still hit for something but you also are at risk of being breathed on and falling over so careful.
Back stabs not being a crit are like piranha’s without teeth :/
Because you are playing a S/D, you might have noticed that you have quite a lot of different kinds of evades.
That’s so called active survivability. Besides that, as a FULL BERSERKER S/D thief in WvW you will have ~2.1 k armor(2064 base + 0-60 BG bloodlust), and something along the lines of 18-19k HP depending on the active HP benefits you have right now. Is that not enough? I don’t know, but I’d rather get more damage :P
Thanks for all the replies everyone alot of useful info here for me to work with
The magic number is 40%.
