I was experimenting with the utility last night and it was great when it worked….but it often wouldn’t. Player’s would often run through the trap unimpeded. I attributed it to the player having stability to prevent CC, but the consistency in which it happened made me think something else was going on.

The utility says “unblockable”, meaning it can’t be mitigated in any other way than stability I presume? Has anyone else had trouble with this skill? I’ll have to test more in the future.

Yes it’s broken, which is a shame because it seems like a very nice utility to start with.

The trigger is actually smaller than the visual (small circle in the center as i heard), but even considering this, people will often walk even right in the center and the rap won’t do anything.
Also it’s very hard to manage properly with all the bots running around, eg pets, minions, clones and such.

There is a good video on how it is broken, but you can do your own testing. Essentially the square graphic of the trap is a lie.

What I find interesting is that when I intentionally clip the edges of other long rectangle effects from other classes they still snare me, etc. So why do ours work differently?

It’s broken sometimes and not at others. No idea what causes it. I use this all the time in the EB JP to fish for stealthed carebears. It normally works no problem but one day it was bugged and didn’t work at all. I swapped to the poison/root trap which worked fine. Then the next day at same exact location trip wire worked again.

It’s already reported a long time ago. The trap detector is correctly the rectangle shown, but the trap effect applier is a circle centered with the trap of roughly half the length. The blind from smoke screen has the same issue along with needle trap.

Since the start they’ve been broken, alas rendering 3 utilities a bit dodgey although I played around with ambush and it was fun. Having said that I gave up trying to use basilisk venom as it actually rarely worked for me. Probably works better from stealth.

Was a fan of tripwire too, but don’t use the skill anymore cause yes it’s broken already for so long. Also with the poison trap I experierence the same. So imo the only trap that does the job correctly is the calltrops or shadowtrap these days. Basilisk Venom ^^ Apply it use it and nothing happens test 4 out of 5 times. Looks like something wrong with that 30 seconds because it worked 1 time right when just applyed.
Stealth that triggers cd, but not grant it, Daggerstorm and his failed stability (sometimes)
Many traits are broken or not working correctly, what makes this the class with the less abilities for optimal use. I hope that A-Net will look on this matter soon.
This issues are already so many times reported in the last months.

Current utility build
DD/PD Hide in Shadows,Blinding powder(bugged), Shadow refuge, Shadow trap, Daggerstorm (stability fail)
