D/D viable?
www.metabattle.com is the best resource for builds right now. It has roaming builds as well.
D/D is a viable play style in WvW but it does have a couple problems. The 3 skill is pretty much completely useless in this build since it’s a condition attack when D/D is a burst set. Also, stealth is much more difficult to obtain in D/D than D/P. If you do choose to play D/D in WvW roaming, I would suggest using the SA trait line since it gives more survivability and condition removal.
One thing that D/D has that no other weapon set has is that it can evade attacks while immobilized.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
you can with shortbow #3 as well.
Yes D/D is viable. What you have to remember is that D/D doesnt have the same playstyle as other weapon combinations. So you will have to build accordingly to that weapon set that you choose
you can with shortbow #3 as well.
And S/D #3

d/d is a weaker weapon set than d/p in most aspects, mainly because the skills 3 and 4 are at best situational, while d/p skills 3 and 4 are extremely useful. It’s however really fun to play, and you won’t have any problem roaming in WvW with it. Everything works there.

D/D is viable in WVW and in my opinion the most satisfying to play when you pull it off effectively. Most D/D thieves prefer 30 SA, I prefer however to build full offensive 6/6/2/0/0 with blind on stealth and Full Zerker armor with -condi duration food.
You just need to be extremely aware of your surroundings since you can’t stealth at will like D/P. DD does however offer superior damage.
The big opening burst if landed properly will ensure the enemy is <50% life (if they aren’t downed already) and Panic Strike will proc, immobilizing them, allowing you to land Heartseeker. They will also immediately be on the defensive giving you the advantage.
The 10SA blind on stealth and 15pt minor DA trait that causes weakness on poison offers decent damage mitigation as well.

D/d can work if you want it too. Having good results with 4/0/4/0/6. (mug/dagger training. Shadows embrace, xxxxx. And the usual trickery traits). With pack runes and totc, you get an easy 75% fury uptime so you don’t “need” hidden killer.
gw1 – healing signet/frenzy/charge

Don’t you feel that missing some of the steroid 25pt traits decreases your damage by too much? You do have the survivability and utility trait to make up for it though.

No, not that much. My thife is fully ascended and wvw Infusions (not that it adds much) but I get 2456 power 200%crit dmg and 40% chance. I can still land 6-8k back stabs or 6k heart seeker. And yes trickery line is so good, I will hardly go into crit strikes again

Even if my crit chance is high, and I have situational bonuses (7% from flanking, fury, etc) I still rather run hidden killer than peel my eyes back on a non-crit backstab. The damage bonus from it being a single target hit and good critical damage just make it outstanding. Ofcourse backstab isn’t the only dps d/d has to offer but for the playstyle I never run d/d without hidden killer.
As far as it being viable, I’d say so it just isn’t as “easy” to play as say d/p for setting up backstabs or sustaining with heavy blind access. Has quite a lot to do with #3 and #4 on d/d power being rather weak compared to the 3 and 4 on d/p.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
