D/P build
Typical hidden killer/shadow arts build
Remember, practice makes perfect. Once you get more skilled you can switch over to something like this, or not, its just personal preference.

tl/dr: assassins are not warriors
thief from design perspective doesn’t have sustain really … condi p/d is arguable tanky and have some sustain but not like other classes
d/p is burst weapon set, your whole dmg comes from backstab and AA basically, if you don’t capitalize on BS you are using wrong weapon set all honestly
surely you can go stealth spam SA build but you won’t be able to kill anyone half decent, the dmg and utility will be just lacking
at the end, no matter how tanky thief builds he will never be as tanky as any other class but still has to sacrifice a lot of dmg just for few points in survuval

Try this one. The damage is still good but the extra toughness and vitality really give it some survivability. Never met a player/class/build that I couldn’t kill with this. And if you run Hidden Killer don’t bother with any crit chance higher than 40%, most of the damage comes from BS anyway and the strength of the build is that you can stack stats other than precision without really loosing too much damage overall. And seriously don’t waste your time with infiltrators signet, Blinding Powder is so much better in almost every situation.

Do you intend to play D/P with a group or as Solo? I think D/P Trickery works perfectly fine in a group, the interrupt on steal, fury and, or Boon strip especially is still decent trade off from having a lack of sustainability.
1v1 is another story and even then you’ll need to rethink against certain specs, I still have to get some practice and theorycraft a bit more if Trickery is viable or not in that scale.
Plays completely opposite professions to his main Teef.

This one is certainly lower risk than the trickery one. If you are patient I would say the SA one is better, or at least more versatile. You might struggle against skilled D/D ele’s with this one as they have a lot of protection uptime and healing which the trickery build can counter. But the thing I really dislike about the trickery build is that you have 300 condition damage going completely to waste. If you want to counter tanky boon classes with a trickery build you might as well go full Dire P/D condi with trickery traits.
