I just cannot decide, I like Shadow Shotbut I also like Pistol Whip.
What is your opinion?
Somehow I got the impression that with Pistol Whip my character auto-evades, making her unhittable….

Yep, that’s correct, Pistol Whip keeps you evaded for it’s duration.

However, the decision depends on what style you like the most.
S/P relies highly on shadow steps and evades.
While D/P relies on stealth and successful backstabs,

PvE – S/P
WvW – D/P
spvp – both should be good, though S/P is based around minimum stealth
and helps you keep capture points contested.

PvE, PvP, or WvW? That can really change the answer.

For PvE, I prefer S/P. Beyond the difference between the special moves of the weapons, the Sword has a longer melee arc than the Dagger for auto attacking. When fighting multiple opponents, I find that the Sword is the better way to go. (I also like how high the Sword’s auto attack damage is, even though it swings a bit slower than the Dagger.)

S/P excels against bunched up targets. If this is a common reality for you take s/P however it is mutilated by retaliation.

Most thieves in WvW run D/P just because of it’s incredible survivability, high damage and (really) borderline OPness.

So i would suggest S/P. It’s at least something different and for the most part won’t be affected by any Stealthtraps.

It depends on what you want to do. I personally prefer D/P and find it to be the most “idiot proof” and trolly WvW build I’ve played. The chase potential and infinite stealth are too good for me to ignore. But that’s just me. Try them both.

I never go sPvP nor WvWvW, I always forget they exist.

both! it depends on the moment.. both combinated are so good

I S/P in WvW from the start, then moved to sPvP. I then subsequently switched to D/P after haste nerf and things got hella lot easier.

D/P is much easier than S/P.

its high survivability in roaming. and i run it in wvw. when im in zerg i run a p/d build as its 22k hp high condi dmg high heal high condi removal and a several anti CC skills.

WVW roaming = d/p with s/d backup 0 30 20 20 0
WVW zerging = p/d with sb backup 0 0 30 30 10
TPVP = s/d and d/p backup 0 30 20 20 0
SPVP = s/d and d/p backup 0 30 20 20 0
PVE = d/d and s/d or sb as backup 20 30 20 0 0

this is what i run and find it to work perfectly for me!!! hope it helps. the trait lines change alot but is a general idea.
