Hi, I am new to thief and have a question regarding Dagger Storm:

How come when I use it in the middle of a zerg in wvw (Lets say 25-30 people) sometimes I hit like 15 people, just numbers throughout the whole dagger storm. Other times I seem to miss like 80 percent of the people hitting like 3 or 4 only.

The positioning is usually the same and if I see its missing, I try to move to get more hits etc but it seems pre-set, either a great one or bad one.

How does it pick targets etc to maximize how many people I hit? Ive tried being in center or around the edge etc nothing seems to matter

It hits randomly and each dagger bounces to an additional target, if the dagger is blocked or dodged it wont bounce additionally.

Best way to use it is to be close to your targets and surrounded.

Dagger storm pools all targets within range and sends out a dagger to each target. However, since the dagger is a projectile, if someone is standing in between you and your target, it will hit that someone instead of your target.

So if you infiltrated a pandemonium, there might be 3-4 people body blocking your daggers so they are getting hit, multiple times, instead of the intended targets.

You can test it on the dummies in Lion’s arch and you’ll get a reasonable indication of where the daggers are flying.
