Q:
Dagger on auto attack? And what is Twisting Fangs?
A:
Hi all,
When main-handing Dagger, do you leave skill 1 on auto attack or do you manually trigger it to ensure best use of backstab?
Secondly, I see on the list of Thief skills a mainhand dagger skill (#3) called Twisting Fangs which is available when you have no offhand weapon. Why would you ever not have an offhand weapon?
Stealth trigger attack off. so no problem with backstab.
Thieves are so OP they can kill ppl with just 1 hand … they usually held a beer in off hand.

Im not having problem with putting 1 on auto attack with main-hand dagger right now. Before it made sense to turn it off to ensure that you activate Assassin’s Signet before Backstab, but now… not much.
All kinds of theif’s main-hand weapons have a special 3rd skill when you are not using any off-hand but basically its much weaker than normal dual skills, left alone that you are losing weapon stats that could be in your off-hand. So using only main-hand weapon on thief isn’t making any sense, unfortunately, because possibly it could be a cool feature to use only one single-handed weapon.
Twisting Fangs is an attack that summoned melee Thieves do, those that appear when you cast Thieves Guild.
Also, twisting fangs is available for use on a fresh character. Since you don’t start off with 2 weapons, and the thief 3rd ability is determined by your “set” it only makes sense to have a 3rd ability of some type.
It is possible to start with two weapons though. Here’s how:
Go buy some level 1 gear appropriate for the new class you are rolling.
Mail it to a buddy.
They just return it to sender.
Roll new character and open the mail, getting your stuff.
Feel awesome because you are better than everyone else in the tutorial area.
Run past the High Modir Sage at the garrison and right up onto the mound where the elemental shows up.
Be the center of attention when you are standing there in everyone’s cutscene.
Thanks all, sounds like auto attack is fine then
