Damage
The title so reminded me of this:
We don’t bring group support while those classes do
Apparently you don´t know much about thief. Damage-wise we are definitly above reaper and rev. Rev is mostly for the boon duration (mes). Reaper is especially good in fractals like mai trin.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4zoswe/qt_gorseval_speed_kill_420_left/ very new and comments say when thief is better than other classes and when not. (This is all about pve)
Coronet who are you referring to?
He meant the OP.
Question @ OP : Are thieves still not a thing in PvE raids? If so @ anet can we please have a rollback of the June 26th patch?
Thieves are still used in raids they are not favorable since no group utility besides bv
So VS being made baseline didn’t help at all? Who would’ve thought that.
Seriously, anet, can we please have the June 26th patch made undone – you only lost another few hundred players and gained nothing.
ETA: Btw, I offer “group utility” by being a good player – back in the day that was sufficient. And according to those who asked me to join their raids it still is. You can have as many group utilities as you like – if you don’t know when and how to use them they’re pretty useless. PvE players are like that though, granted, they are convinced that they need group utility.
ETA²: Actually a solution would be to have one item for raids that can only be used by thieves and that you only get in and for raids.

Thief is part of raid meta. Groups that know what they are doing want thief in the group, sometimes even multiple for fast runs in raids. QT recent record gorse clear is a good example of this.
It’s purely comes down to personal bias within groups and the group situation. It’s very similar to how certain groups choose not to take engineers despite them being one of the highest condi dps classes in the game.
It’s not that thief is bad, it’s just that most groups need the extra utility from the other classes to survive the fight.

Eh, I am hoping more for something along the lines of a supportive elite spec. Shadow priest or something. That offers some useful tools for the group. It’s the only thing thief is really missing for pve. People will freak out tho if they get anything but rifle again.
I Play WvW to have fun. I don’t find it fun anymore. Therefore I don’t play.

^ this, a more articulated version of my response.
You guys get that everything that is in the traits also influences PvP and WvW, right? Anet just failed with their attempt to make VS baseline and everybody thought it would be so OP that they rather gave thief a gigantic nerf on top of that (1 second stealth attack cooldown) so the profession is now as useless as never before.
I get your points, but clearly anet doesn’t know what to do with thief but wants them in raids – that’s why I suggested a buff that’s only useable by thieves in only a raid. You can actually make this for every class if needed.

Pretty much this right here. Organized groups make better use of the thief when it can absorb all the boons and buffs, etc., and they’re likely to also not need as much support or group utility. Disorganized ones, not as much.
As far as the elite spec goes, why not both? DPS/Burst sniper is a horrible idea on the conceptual level, and the thief really does need a 1200 ranged weapon of some sorts.
But then we’re back to the Deadeye discussion and that work is pretty much over :s
