Costs 4 initiative, which is a decent amount of points.

Currently the only thing this is useful for is snaring.

Pros, snares.
Cons, gets evaded, blocked, misses a lot, 4 initiative, heartseeker does a better job for less.

Previously, this skill did massive damage to targets sitting next to each other and was worth it, now it’s not worth it so much.

I would like to see initiative cost go down (highly unlikely) OR range+snare duration or amount increased.

Only seems fair since this skill was neutered.

Just another noob thief…

Thief got nothing but nerfs and they seriously, really didn’t need them. I’m baffled as to WHY arenanet thought they should HALF a skills damage without adding any compensation.

I’m fairly certain that dancing dagger wasn’t overperforming by that much, or if all. It just doesn’t make sense.

Speaking as someone who has never played a thief, and who has died to thieves a lot – I thought this skill was cool. It looked like a great way to break up the front lines a bit in a zerg versus zerg open field stalemate. I never saw a need to nerf it. Really, I never saw a need to nerf anything about thieves at all other than the indirect nerf of fixing the “coming out of stealth rendering bug”.

“Balancing the game” does not have to equal “nerf every class until they are all equally as boring to play”

This is a clear evidence that your point of view is completely spoilt.
Just read again the changelog of the 15th November patch.

Dancing Dagger was completely broken. It was able to deal 8k damage to 2 targets per cast, this means 24k damage if you use all your initiative, all this on a decent range.
How can you say that this skill was fine?
