Dare Devil: a silly name for Thief Elite
ArenaNet’s Elite Spec creative source on some professions.
GW2 Profession – X-Men

Warrior -> Wolverine/Juggernaut
Engineer -> Forge
Elementalist -> Storm
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
Daredevil really doesn’t sound as bad as people make it out to be. Neither does Dragonhunter, really. I get that it’s subjective, but come on. There are better things to be mad about.
Besides, why get all bent out of shape about the name? If you’re gonna get mad now, you’re just mentally pushing yourself toward being disappointed when more news about Daredevil (if that is the name) gets revealed.
Even if the Elite Spec is super good and everything Thief needs, you’ll be so salt about the name that you can’t even bring yourself to enjoy it.
It’s just a name in a game.
Lighten up a bit, man.
Dragon hunter sucked Daredevil or w.e it’s called will suck. Thief has been nerfed essentially every single patch since release. Remember when acro was a good trait-line? me too.Mug critting sword 2 stun breaks yea those too.
After 3 years if you think thief is going to get any better you’re just lying to yourself at this point. I’d like to be proven wrong i really would but i’m not gonna pretend like w.e thief gets is going to change everything lol.

Found this funny, I tried a few times and it came with the following that might apply. I dont really like them that much over daredevil but
Battle Thief
Death Monk
Light Thief
Then decided none would ever make sense until we see the spec and if the spec is staff and the style acro , dare devil is quite descriptive of that style.
Added to that class names like Marauder, dreamthief, Raider, Duelist and the like can all be seen as pretty “Generic” and no matter what chosen people will have objections.
I will wait and see to the reveal but dare devil is not all bad and I can deal with it. I am more concerned about the mechanics than the name.
“More likely”, or “leaked” does not equal confirmed (I see this everywhere and it bugs me).
You don’t care, yet were still in denial. How about now?
Looks like sneaky way to promote a youtube video.
fair enough, though I’d personally prefer a more collected thief – the kind who thinks everything through, rather than the reckless kind.
And someday that will likely be the inspiration for a very cool new Thief Espec…
…And people will kvetch about the name for that one too .
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Daredevil as a name sounds pretty awesome in my honest opinion.
Not all bad but I can think of many better.
I would prefer Shadow Lord.
Of curse the spec itself would have to be known first before coming to a proper name.
Ooooh. “Shadow Lord” sounds awesome. Maybe when they do the step above Elite Spec…ULTRA ELITE SPEC! lol. No but seriously that name is cool and I would have liked “Shadowmancer” even. I never cared for the profession name “Thief” as it was, because it kind of pigeonholed me into thinking my character as an actual thief, although originally I wouldn’t have seen him that way.
Anyway, I’m excited to see what ANet does with this E-Spec…hopefully it’s great and fun to play.
Seriously i though the daredevil thing was a joke. Not that i don’t like the name but because anybody that hear it will think in a red spandex suit.
This is going to be laughable at the very least.
At least ur not called Dragonkitten or dragoonhunter
I used to be a power ranger, now not sure anymore

personal opinion:
“Shadow Lord” and “Shadowmancer” Both sound like something a junior high english student would write in to a fantasy short story. It’s just word salad. Slap two words together because you’re too lazy. It’s like calling the base class “Stab Master” in stead of “Thief” Entertaining if you’re deliberately trying to be funny, but groan worthy if you’re trying to maintain a more direct and serious tone.
Such a spec would need a bit more class. You know, “Deceiver” or “Phantom” or something.
As for Daredevil, I don’t have a problem with the word itself. It just seems inappropriate for the signature weapon/staff. I imagine a daredevil much less as an evasive wushu-staff martial artist and more as a pistol slinging, bomb chucking, dive through windows and explosions kinda guy. Seems to be more fitting as the name of an engineer spec.
If it were up to be I’d call the new spec something with underworld tones that emphasizes the blunt and physical nature of the spec alongside the implied martial arts feel.
Enforcer, Marauder, or other terms that would seem in place in the sentance “The yakuza sent a gang of _ to rough up that guy for protection money.”
