Daredevil dodge choice
I stick with Bounding Dodger for the dps boost. In PvE, I slot Signet of Shadows and travel around with shortbow. In PvP, just shortbow is more than enough to get to places quickly, so I still use Bounding Dodger.
If you want you can run Acrobatics for swiftness on dodge.

I’ll still take dash. The immob immunity is gold in WvW, and the reduced damage stacks nicely with scrapper runes. The damage on interrupt trait more than makes up the damage imo. I play a tanky CC build with no stealth though, bound is definitely better for PvP in general if you play with more standard gear.

Power Build Condi Build
For PvE I prefer the dash right now. I know it misses out on dps boons, but it suits my trapper build just fine and makes map completion on the wide open older zones much easier.

My PvE trapper build has no stealth skills, so I went to a whole lot of trouble to craft Rune of the Trapper. So far it’s been going well. Something to consider.
Did you know that you can get CHILL TO THE BONE in the middle of bound dodge negating it freezing u midair? Its fun. For the Daredevil traits i prefer no trait. every 3 of them are clunky buggy as kitten. Did you know that if you get immob and you have dash you can remove immob only by dashing forward? Immob will prevent your character to turn around so you cant dash anyother way…
Just give me 350 range dash that buffs dmg for 10% and im happy, i rly dont like bound it feels way to slow to even play it, and for real if not dmg on rupt trait i wouldnt even consider playing daredevil over regular thief.

Reminds me of how in cities when we use the party table we try to jump on the petrification effect. XD

Yeah, trapper runes are nice. I’m playing power S/P atm though, so i’d have to see if what you gained was worth the loss of a stunbreak etc. I have trapper runes for condi though, they work nicely there
I can stealth with black powder and cluster bomb, that’s enough for me really. I kinda enjoy running stealthless, it’s satisfying when it works ^^

I am using the lotus one for my condi thief… I know it is not optimal but it is really fun and lots of things that are not me die so… good enough.

I also traited acrobatics. You get a mini unhindered combatant out of it.

You’re a lot better than me at landing those bounds, nice play. Dash is more user friendly with less time put in, I guess I need more practice again lol :P

Power Build Condi Build
This is something I’ve been saying about how DD should work. Make the dodges baseline on DD in a drop-down box or fkey and changeable out of combat. But make the damage/ def buffs stay as traits. This way you could have lotus dodge with the 10% damage reduction or bound with condi boost etc. It would allow more variety to builds and people wouldn’t have to wait through HP grinding to start using what makes DD unique.
As a Signet of Shadows addict, I use Unhindered Combatant as my dodge choice. It’s let me drop the signet from my skill bar, instead using the Swiftness from dodging to travel. Being able to clear all movement-hindering conditions is very helpful, and while I miss out on the extra damage from Bound, the freed up utility slot lets me use Fist Flurry, which in PvE at least is a sizable damage boost along with break bar control.
That’d be really cool Shinjiko. i mean you can still kind of do it but it’s annoying to bring up the pane all the time. F3-f5 seems like a great place to put that selection.
