Kittenhunters are mean.
Warriors rock.
This thread is NOT meant to ask which one is viable, but rather ask which one you prefer when you run DD.
Personally, I prefer Bound, but I’m wondering about the rest of the teef community.
So please leave a non-cancerous response ^^
I hate bound with a passion, dodging/evading are meant to deny income dmg, takeig or dealing 3-4k per dodge and as a leap finisher is 1 of the worst gimmicks in the dd daredevil line next to impact disruption. I prefer dash with all power builds but I think that it is a bit too strong, 450 range super speed dash, it would still be strong at 300 range.

Bound is a very useful dodge when paired with x/p for more reliable leap finishers. I prefer this dodge on s/p, and when running staff. Generally this is the dodge that is for duels, it will add more damage to your fight, but is very telegraphed and easy to punish.
In contrast dash is a lot better for closing the gap and kiting. I prefer this dodge for d/d, s/d, d/p. This dodge is the best for just getting around the map. Im always switching to this in wvw to get around and then back to bound when I am roaming.

I still haven’t changed my mind on that, at least in a fight aside from a few convenience jumps in WvW, I still would rather stay tighter on what I’m working on at the moment though it’s nice for chasing. That’s a personal preference though, it shouldn’t changed if most thieves like the way it is.
I like bound when I take acro but most of the time I prefer dash. The rest of my build has damage in mind but even just four seconds of some damage reduction and condition clear where I land from dash is one easy choice as a balance for me in WvW at least.
Bound with a staff; you use staff 3 to disengage / dodge incoming attacks / break immobilize, and bound can be used offensively. Dash for D/P since it’s much better for hit-and-run.
It depends entirely on the weaponset and build.
In builds using acro I prefer bound in power builds dependent on weapon type and build. IE I like d/p dash and i like staff or sword/X bound.
In a p/d condition build with acro I prefer dash over bound and Lotus training. I prefer Loutus training with a d/d condition build.
In other words I like all three of them and find each preferable for certain build types and styles.
It also depends entirely on whether or not you’re talking about PvE / PvP, and what type of each we’re talking about.
In raids, for any actual boss fights you will always take bound, because the role of the DD is to maximize DPS. Take dash in raids is doing nothing but gimping your DPS.
Bound needs to no longer crit and lose its leap finisher
Bound by quite a margin for staff and D/P. I honestly think dash is overused by the thief pvp community, sure it helps you run faster, but do you need more than shortbow for that?
Bound gives allows better dps upkeep as it allows you to dodge and remain in melee range. Blackpowder → bound → backstab also feels more responsive than Blackpowder → heartseeker→ backstab due to a lack of aftercast.
I suspect a lot of dash’s popularity is to at least provide some condi clear.
impailing lotus for my condi skillz
also the best dodge animation in game
I normally run bound for extra aoe pressure with staff, dual dagger, and s/p for stealth. For dash I use kiting weapon sets p/d, s/d, or bow.
