Daze on Steal
1 sec. only 2 secs if u have mesmer runes or 15% on sigil. they round up to the nearest whole second.
thank you. Seems unreasonable.
These posts seem to suggest that there are fractional dazes

Are they just old? I’d test it but I’m at work. I assume you have tested it?

unreasonable? what do u mean
not sure why we can’t have fractions of a second. But it’s not my game
There’s are fractional dazes. They work in quarters, rounding up to the nearest 1/4 second. If you don’t believe me play around with stun* duration and basilisk venom.
animal i know what u mean. but 1/4 sec daze is only good for a quick rupt…although there is a cooldown on a rupted skill tho so
What sigil works for daze? Superior Sigil of Paralyzation?
My point is that i’d like it to be more than one second, taking advantage of my increased condition duration that i have built for.
So if I have 60% increase I.d like 1.6 seconds, i’m not sure why it needs to be rounded,
@viking – thanks – I do believe you.
@ dimitri – yes
If I take 1 sigil on each weapon I get 2*Bonus (15%*2=30%Stun Duration)? I haven’t tried this before. So I don’t know if sigils works this way.
only 1 sigil works cannot use two they dont stack
only 1 sigil works cannot use two they dont stack
Thanks for the answer! You saved me a good time and coins!
is it one or 2 seconds depending on your condition duration or can you get fractions of a second?
Just so you know, daze is not a condition and is not affected by condition duration.
Tooltips round to 1/4 seconds, but they’re not reflective of actual results. Everything I’ve read and seen points to all things with durations accurately lasting for their expected partial amounts. The only times where whole seconds matter are conditions and boons that tick, like bleeds and regeneration. Because these tick once a second, half a second is not useful. They last that extra half second, but do nothing during it.
Daze is a control effect and not a condition, so it will only be affected by duration increases that specifically improve dazes. For a thief, that is namely the Superior Runes of the Mesmer.

So Superior Sigil of Paralyzation won’t work for daze?

I have not personally tested it, but no, it shouldn’t work. Stun and daze are different control effects. For example, that would improve the stun on Pistol Whip, though that’s a 1/2 second stun, and so that would add 0.075 seconds to its stun.
If it did work though, it would round up to 2 secs
Unless they changed it (which they could have), Sigil of Paralyzation does work on dazes.

It would seem, through various searches around here and Guru, that Sigil of Paralyzation is a wonky beast. I was not aware it was such a mess, but there are claims of it working on some dazes, not on some stuns, and the duration increases being rounded, not rounded, and otherwise unpredictable from ability to ability. It would seem control effects follow rules very different from conditions.
So, I take back my earlier comments and simply shrug my shoulders.

Note at the bottom:
The duration increase of various stun and daze effects vary wildly and often round up to the next second.
So it works for Daze applied on Steal for sure!

That’s a general note about how the duration is rounded and not about the Sigil specifically.
Full set of 5 unique skills for both dual-wield weapon sets: P/P and D/D – Make it happen
PvE – DD/CS/AC – If that didn’t work, roll a Reaper or Revenant.
From prior testing for my chain daze s/d build with superior sigil of paralyzation, daze would be increased significantly in wvw but limited to 2 secs in sPvP.
Keep in mind this was tested with sword and not daze on steal. Also this was quite a few patches ago.
