Deadeye is worse than core Thief.
Problem are not the raw numbers of skills, the whole design is crippled and broken.
they didn’t want to make deadeye too strong, but seriously it’s pretty crappy due to how much they held back on it. After messing around for 2 hours, I hardly get the chance to use kneel 4 with proper malice charge, with a glass cannon build, you pretty much can spike 1 guy down simply with 333 spam. I get the tradeoff for mobility while kneeling, but right now we can cancel the stance easily by just wasd, making it feels really clunky to play with.

If you don’t like DE, don’t play DE. Pretty simple solution I think.
Also its a preview, not a finished product. Not to say the finished will be completely different, (it may, I don’t kitten know I don’t work over there) but a few weak spots should be expected, not just in design but the fact that no one has mastered these spec’s yet and will expect some clunky gameplay.

Well yeah it’s a stealth sniper. It’s GOING to be either horrendously broken and/or a complete gimmick.
This is what people asked for, and what a number of people tried to warn of. You can’t balance this concept.

The swap for having a character not in melee range was slightly lower damage.
I would rather have the first shot with lesser damage, but never know they were being targeted.
Weapon skills need to be a little more different; cause conditions: daze, bleeding, ham-string, or blind.
They have a month to deal the tweaking and I hope they take our suggestions.

I went into ebg and there were like 3-4 daredevils and deadeyes ganking people. Went in and it was a massacre with hammer rev lol. That immobile kill shot on a low hp class is lolworthy.
Tbh, it always was going to be worse than core D/P in real terms if they didn’t overpower it to stupid levels, because it would require DA for damage, deadeye for rifle and is intended to have massive synergy with SA, so Trickery is left out totally. Gonna be difficult to balance since thief has been balanced around Trickery for years.

I Naturally want to move out of harms way, but end up forgetting that I have to press 5 then I can move. If I could just kneel and break kneel with normal movement that would be great. Yeah weapon stow is not one of my first reactions when a daredevil jumps on my face while kneeling. The whole class feels great except for the kneeling on rifle. They have an ammunition system with rifle 5, I think they should let us break kneel by moving and balance it with the ammo count or recharge. This would give us a more fluid play with the rifle. It’s a better more simple solution than increasing the dps of the weapon or completely changing a skill or trait and trying to see if it broke something else.

You are a hard hitting ranged character, I don’t think he was designed for a fair 1v1 when he’s equipped with the rifle. With “Be Fast Or Be Killed”, and Trickery (sadly required because you blow through your initiative like nothing else) you will gun people down before they even have a chance to get near you. I’ve actually 1v5ed in WvW with those two trait lines. And let me tell you… the lack of mobility isn’t too much of a problem if you keep a shadowstep utility.

Not trying to make it mobile like daredevil. You would still have to kneel to gain access to the kneel skills on the rifle. I’m saying let us move and break kneel and use the ammunition functionality to balance it out. If you kneel and are instantly pressured because you didn’t set it up right at a safe distance, then you get the option to break it but loose the real heavy hitting skills. If it’s too strong this way than reduce the damage or use the ammunition system to force better timing and positioning. If people feel that it isn’t reliable then they won’t use it unless the damage is jacked to ridiculous numbers. Even if they can move and break kneel, another thief/daredevil or whatever melee class that gets in their face will still have the advantage because the mobile skills on rifle are weak and slow(as they should be) and would force the thief to go on the defense and blow resources just to open up a safe gap, or swap to a melee weapon and fight back, but then loose their mobility and decap potential from not having short bow. I don’t want it to be op, I just want it to be viable in a competitive setting.

It does, that huge circle you see further away is the 1.5k range threshold.

People have been asking for rifle on thief so many times it was inevitable that it would come at one point. Atleast we got it out of the way now and can get decent weapons for the next specialisations. Like rifle on thief, srsly? Of course it would be crap.
With that said DE is still pretty fun although i would never run it over Daredevil in ranked queues.

Daredevil will alway be better in any playmode, since anet will never ever do some major overhauls.

This classspec takes out anyone in 1-4 shots with nearly no casttime on its skills lots of stealthskills even the possebility to 100% crit with any shot fired in 2 secs after stealth is broken without the need of precision and that on max range. If you do not understand what is op about that you are completely out of mind. Engis would kill for that spec in this way after loosing there grenaderange and getting a completely kittenty mortar instead that is weak as hell and has not even half the attackspeed of any rifle skill of the deadeye.

No decent player should get hit by deadeye’s rifle (at least not #4). Other than that, reflects/blocks which is nearly omnipresent and you completely removed deadeye’s capability of doing anything
Only Rifle #2 gets reflected for some reason… but yeah, it’s Rifle #4 that does the laffo damage people are seeing, and it’s so telegraphed that you can see it coming from orbit.

Actually… I’m gonna have to be disagree. The deadeye’s rifle knealt projectile speed is fast enough that it’s hard to avoid. The #4 abilility people are afraid of it being reflected might be unfounded.
I’ve only had it reflected and sent back into my face only once. And that was because it was activated at the same time as my ability.
no worries, they will nerf all the old builds till the deadeye will be the best possible choice. xD

Deadeye feels clunky but I suspect once people get the right build with the right rotations it is going to be a seriously annoying class in competitive play.

If you’re having problems with that equip withdraw, roll for initiative, shadowstep, and the flare for panic button-like movement. You can also weapon swap, and dodge. I’ve found a lot of times I’ll forget I’ve kneeled for quite a while, just using utility skills to move when people come at me.

base thief, and daredevil will eat this spec… just like they eat rangers. Play this like a longbow ranger, keep your opponent at a distance.
All deadeye’s rifle skills and F1 skill are not unblockable. Those skills have cast time.
So dodge, block and reflect are all work. It’s depend on range but interrupt is work for all of them. There is no reason to call them OP.
about the breaking kneel imo its tricky…
A) If they make it brake with wasd then if you want to dodge in a specific direction wile kneeling and don’t wanna change stance how will you do it?
B) if it stays as it is it’s a bit clunky yes I agree. BUT…
Most ppl don’t use 5 for the fifth ability, everyone has it bind some were else like in Q ir E or F or X i have seen many streamers using a variety of keys. I have a Razer mouse with a gazilion buttons and i have the fifth skill bind on one of the thumb’s keys and i must say that i got use to going in and out of kneel comfortably.
C) make SPACE key to change stance back to standing but for some ppl (key mashers) this will probably make them jump for no reason and wile jumping we cant use any other ability…
I think it’s a tough one and i believe that for the time being anet is not going to change it due to the “dodging in specific direction wile kneeling without braking it” thingie.

Here’s the thing with DE.
It can POTENTIALLY serve some purpose that DD can’t fulfill…but for that to happen, it needs to do more damage and faster than DD can provide, on top of the core problems, that I’ve mentioned previously, being addressed.
Currently, you can do significantly more damage as any other class in a shorter amount of time than the DE can. DE’s only gimmick is DJ. The big number (if you somehow land it – any decent player can easily avoid it) is not enough to justify the awful implementation.
I personally have not died, nor been hit, by a DJ in any 1v1 scenario. The only time I was ever hit over the entire weekend was when I was already heavily invested in fighting someone else, and had my blocks, reflects, and evades down; but really, at that point anything can kill me. You have to be a trash player to get hit by DJ any other time.
The rifle weapon, in its current implementation, is also utterly garbage for hardcore PvE content. The only real purpose it serves is afk auto-ing open world content and trolling awful players in WvW (which there are a ton of).
A lb soulbeast is a better DE than the DE.
