Death blossom...useless or ??
The general consensus seems to be that it’s useless, so much so that I found myself avoiding it. But it works nicely in a PD+DD condition build, at least as far as my newbieness has allowed me to discover so far.
I also used a leveling build early on that it was quite nice for.
Yeah this is here for pve mainly, there was the magical unicorn pvp build that got nerfed early on (with caltrop nerf) that used it too.
I just posted in the cnd thread that I think it should be changes to something that helps you stay in melee… A teleport behind your target and wiping/donating blindness/weakness, as these conditions basically neuter thieves. Or something similar…
It would be awesome if it worked abit like Pistol Whip. Evade for the entire duration and scale with power. Would allow for d/d to be viable against larger groups of enemies.
Also fits the theme of the thief really well, dodging while dealing damage. Something we need more of and are within the concept because of low hp pool, crappy armor etc.
I love DB, is a evade, 3 long bleeds, With a good condition build using DB and p/d roll of inti, shadow step you can solo lupi with no problems.
Its a play style most dont like to use b.c is it a little clunky.
My Condition build I use is based off it, 1800 condition, 20k hp 3k tough (Im in full ascended dire) with the right traits you can do 10-11 DB back to back with 15sec bleeds. Add that with signet of malice all pve content is to easy.
I use it somewhat frequently on my d/d burst build as a quick dodge when my endurance is depleted to avoid things like Earthshaker and actually keep up with hambow warriors using blind on stealth and DB effectively to mitigate how many times they hit me. Removing it is the last thing you want to do.
It’s not entirely useless.
I use it when standing around waiting on stuff since the animation for a male human is a something like a front flip 1080. =P
Seriously though, it’d be nice if they replaced this with something worth using in combat.
Yep, increase evade to 1/2sec + increase direct dmg or make it immobilise target for 1sec (would help landing cnd). Remove bleeds from that skill. We already have a condition Set.
Guys, stop asking for them to remove bleeds to improve your burst set. Condition sets use DB as their only source of bleeds with pistol as a secondary set. Hopefully the devs aren’t as close-minded as you.
Well i would primary use p/d and secondary sb. Or p/p. Perplexity u Know. But d/d? Its obv a Power Set. Also unload could be changed to a condtition skill. Both sets would be so much more viable. Nobody needs a Mixed Set in a game where Mixed builts Do Not work as good as straight forward builts.
Atm we have:
2Mixed sets : d/d, p/p
1 burst Set: d/p
1 condi Set: p/d
2 control sets: s/d, s/p
And shortbow which works in every built
We could have:
2 burst
2 condi
2 control
+ shortbow
Sounds better to me

You couldn’t be more wrong. Mixed builds have more blurred lines as to what can and cannot counter them, whereas min/max’d builds have very clear hard counters. Perhaps if you were to have played anything but a build someone else made for you, you would understand this.
I Made my own builts. And still play them. Sadly there are Not many different builts. Thats the downside of fixed skills, few utilitys.
This Is Not gw1, there you could really say “i invented this built”. In gw2: whenever you invent something min. 1000 others invent it at the Same time, or even invented it a month before.
You simply cant invent your own skillSet. So pls sTop posting such nonsense. A few months ago i played s/d 0/30/0/25/15, no i didnt rely fully on fs+ls, and no i didnt copy it. Can i prove it? How could i? I bet someone played it right after release.

So please show me your superior Mixed thief built.
The Problem of a Mixed set on thief is, Initiative. We need it for those skills which work with the built.

Needs more base dmg. And a better animation.
I don’t like the fact that if you are running when you use it, the character stops in place for a split second, and also when she lands – it would be better if you could do the move in one entirely fluid motion that doesn’t stop forward momentum at all.

It’s just so strange to have Death Blossom on a set that seems to be designed for melee single-target damage. The best option would probably be to give thieves access to another weapon that takes the role of melee condition damage (torch? off-hand sword?) then change the functionality of Death Blossom into something more useful for direct damage.
Something along the lines of Trampling Ox (suggested above) would be an amazing skill to have as a D/D thief.

It one of the most useful skills in a condition damage build as it adds AOE bleeds at a great rate. People that make these suggestions have to consider that there are others that like something other then a direct damage build and have invested in gear to use DB as Condition.
Nothing that is in the dagger trait line suggests to me it was intended for “Direct damage” alone . A Condition thief uses the first weapon skill on dagger to lay down poison. It one of the small handful of AOE condition damage skills available.
I use D/D heavily in my Condition build and just because a Heartseeker as example does not hit as hard as in a direct damage build, it does not mean it not used in a Condition build.
The Sword is the obvious power set for melee. If I want to fight in melee as a condition thief why take away my only weapon?
