Disabling shot ruined for me
Yeah I noticed this too. It feels buggy, like it’s a broken animation or something. If it’s intentional though.. lel. Guess I’ll run D/D+S/D instead then.

- Moonwalking animation added to Disabling Shot, a new way to CC yourself.
So currently it dodges for .6 sec and you are CCd for .3sec while it uses more initiative than flanking strike which works way much smoother.
Haha yes I noticed this too. Used to use Disabling Shot within Refuge no problem(avoiding cc, push back etc) but now it leaps you right out.
The animation feels very broken.
Pretty annoying since I have some lag (from NA) so I’m never sure if I’m lagging or what.

Y thats not lagg. Half of animation you do jumpback/dodge like it was before and other half u do that kittened backpedal animation that you cant even cancel. Nice way to make good skill ( supposedly OP lol) completaly useless.

Well I’m glad to see I’m not the only one feeling the pain of this change, but sadly I think we have 0 change of having it reverted to the original animation. Im currently trying to retrain myself from using this skill, as it actually makes me moonwalk back towards my opponent. Whoever came up with this animation is obviously a backpeddelar and probably didn’t even know it could be used while running away from the opponent. That’s what happens when you have devs who play PP thief.
I was trying Disabling shot last night and I stopped because I wasn’t sure whether I was lagging to hell or it was the animation, but I was bouncing around all over the place and it was plain horrible.
I was just testing it to see if it at least adds more evade time, but it doesn’t.
So basically they added more back-dodging distance but didn’t make it during the leap itself. Maybe they were trying to make the distance greater, but didn’t factor the speed of the move itself?

Nah, their goal was to create a window where you’re open to attacks while using Disabling Shot two or more times in a row without altering pre-cast which would make it unreliable as a dodge. To further refine it they added the backpedaling to the end of the evade animation to represent the small window where people can strike you to make it easier for people to see when you’re open for attacks.
I’m okay with the evade reduction, but this new animation isn’t that great, it also hinders you from entering a normal dodge during the backpedaling.
I thought I was rubberbanding too! This can’t be the new normal for this skill… Come on anet… fix all these bugs or revert back to a stable verison of the game…..

Just tried using the skill, it’s really not great.
I’m running on a laptop so have issues in larger fights anyways, and since this skill occasionally just disables my movement keys forcing me to withdraw to be able to move again, it’s just horrible as is. Makes me sad, since shortbow is my favourite weapon for thief.
At least let us determine which way you run, if you want an aftercast where we can’t dodge. That would stop it feeling like you’re lagging out at least.

I have to agree with all of you there.
First it was a problem on my part since i m having quiet a low connection this days, but seeing this answered my question, plus revert it to something smoother, it s just impossibru to use this skill decently now
The aftercast is upsetting to say the least. I dont understand why they needed to break the functionality of the skill so that people can have a bigger tell than they already had.
Might as well just revert it back to the old animation and tack on the “On My Mark” target to the end of the cast if they want people to know when to mash buttons at us…
Oh wow… I decided to return to my thief today, after weeks of warrior and not touching thief at all and… just wow. No wonder though, people in PvP complained about the skill making thieves too hard to kill, so of course anet listened and got it nerfed. Back to warrior.
Not to mention that the functionality of the skill is broken when you shoot a target behind you.
The dodge portion moves you away as intented… and the new backpedal portion closes up again to your target …
I won’t enter in the debate of is this change is justified or not, but come on, the change wasn’t even properly tested…
Tested it a bit more again today, the animation is really bad.
Everytime I use it, I feel like I’m lagging. The animation isn’t smooth at all.
I am so dissapointed that Anet really listen to those qq-threads o.O

i think (and hope) it’s a bug since isn’t listed in the patch notes, this spell really became a self stun, it has exactly the oppisite purpose of what it have to do right now.
I’m gonna bump this so that we don’t forget, and neither does Anet.
After playing with it for a while, it seems to be worst when you’re fully running away, in combat it’s not as bad as I initially thought (assuming you don’t spam it, or that you use withdraw first to get distance). That doesn’t make it good though, I’d still rather have an animation that doesn’t feel like lag.

It’s really bad. If you’re facing away and use it, you dodge backwards but then moonwalk back to where you were.
Horrible, horrible and more horrible.
It shouldn’t have been hot fixed the day people posted about. Now, most likely, we are going to wait for it till the next balance patch hits in.

I checked it myself, how do you make such a skill worthless? Again, if you want to stop the spam Anet, just give like a 1-2 second cooldown between uses of weapon skills on a thief after the animation is done. Don’t just completely BREAK a skill like this!

I was wondering why it felt so borked, I thought it was just lag causing rubberbanding.
Playing hotjoin last night i kept getting a lot of server lag / rubber banding during fights. A warrior kept hammer stomping me in particular while this skill was activating or i was in mid jump? (not sure the dodge time is so petty now) .
Playing from a country outside NA you get used to these things, but given the fact that we are the only class with the usual MMO rogue action point system to limit damage, this skill should be an instant cast for the amount it costs and / or give a lot more dodge or jump back.

I think they are starting to overhaul the thief’s class mechanic by adding the “community QQ system” – every thief skill inflicts a drawback on yourself (like the CC on SB 3): stealth will immobilize you for the whole duration, dodges knock you down and, of course, drawing weapons inflicts 30 secs of burning and 25 stacks of tourment, bleeding and confusion.
If this is intentional, I know the only reason why it is, the one thing that ends up nerfing classes across the board 80% of the time, the one mode everybody hates for this reason…sPvP.

Now cluster bomb got nerfed into the ground which also screws over pve thieves.
Um what? cluster bomb has not been nerfed, they just updated the tooltip.

Not arguing whether stealth in Gw2 is balanced or not, but in every single online video game I’ve ever played that had a stealth function, it’s almost everybody’s favorite thing to complain about.

That’s what I’m saying. Stealth and evades are called powerful but Anet looks at shortbow and breaks it. Who complained about shortbow? These threads must have been invisible. Perma-stealth/evade thieves have been nerfed here and there but shortbow had everything nerfed. SB1 lost it’s targeting, SB2 lost it’s range, SB3 is broken now, SB4 lost duration, SB5 no longer teleports as it used to(although this affected all teleports I think).
