Do I? I do well in small roaming groups and concentrated zerg fights. Duos and trios work out great. But trying to solo roam, I usually get my face planted on the dirt road… >.>;

I haven’t finished gearing up my thief for full exotics yet – there’s still some rares mixed into my armor and weapons. Getting the gear isn’t a problem at all, but I kinda assumed that waiting on getting exotic gear would help me with the learning curve on thieves.

Be honest: would getting my full exotic armor and weapons greatly help out in WvW roaming, or can I learn to make do with an incomplete set? Like I said, I do pretty well in group fights, just not out on my own.

Never tried, since I can gear up in full exotic in one day.

Allthough I’ve killed people naked, only wearing gloves, shoulders, helmet and ascended trinkets and weapons, but going against skilled players on any class, every stat and portion of your skill counts. By not having at least full exotic you are given a handicap against good players, even just having full exotic without ascended trinkets and weapons puts you at a handicap against good players who have these.

If going undergeared you’d need a dodgy build with lots of control, sustain and outdamage the other players sustain, though dodgy builds with good sustain and survival also requires good equipment to work good for a thief.

I’d go as far to say you need ascended gear as well.

If you want to be competitive, or solo in any way at all.

When I fight other players I can tell in an instant how well geared they are. Also the thief is very gear dependent. As we’re so squishy, the easier classes to do well with (mesmer, warrior, guardian,necro), will east you alive, even if they’re under geared.

i can only imagine what would happened when ascended armor come

go ascended gear – do dailes and guild missions so it will cost you less

I think I read somewhere that bursting with zerker gear/weapons is more damage compared to exotic versions than any other type. So in theory it would make some thiefs stronger.
