Do you go for any stat treshold in wvw?
MOAR POWAH!!! In all honesty, you do what’s comfortable for you some play full each other’s use a mix of both neither is wrong it comes down to what you are comfortable with.
mara armor zerker trinkets is what i use, mara weapons also.
as for d/p over D/d
simply cus d/p stealth on the spot is far superior to CnD if u got gap already and all u can do is stealth to safe your balls then your kittened on your D/D build cus u have to get back to your enemy or find a mob/wall/w/e is hit able.
tho i run w/e weapon set sometimes i run d/p s/d having ripping boons on interupt on my pistol and just headshot if they get close ill start rapping boons with S/D just for the fun of it.
thief works fine on many weapons even tho people insist on d/p which is idd in advantage most of the time but it doesnt mean the other weapons are crap.
At the moment I am collecting hero points for the build and I must admit thief is a piece of kitten in pve. The content I soloed without any problems with my other characters seem to be to much for a thief. Everything hits me for 5k and my hp pool is only 12k.
I was gliding around maguuma and something one shotted me leaving my floating corpse between the branches of the jungle. I had to check the combat log to know what killed me (sniper one hit, how? no idea).
This is so pathetic, but I am almost finished so I don’t give up. So far it seems thief is most frustrating profession to play in pve. I don’t remember it being so weak when I leveled it few years ago.
Anyways thanks for your input, I’m decided to go with mara/berserker mix and see how it goes. If wvw will be too easy I still will have my gear to go full berserk, but I doubt that will happen, haha.
Hit a threshold that you’ll need for any given server matchup. You’ll get to know how guilds and squads on other servers roll and what you need to make up for in your own squads and groups. I think I’m right around 18k health for the last few matchups with the rest going to power since I’m forcing crits.
D/P is a strong enough as a weapon set but the build that compliments the set also compounds it’s performance since there’s enough damage modifier and utility to take something like Brawlers Tenacity which helps your utility bar maintain a resource on top damage and utility but not lose anything from set, whereas on my S/D set I’m compromising precisely because the damage and utility constraint and thresholds are real once you’re fighting a team who puts thought into their compositions.

The only hard stat requirement I have found is around a 17k HP minimum. If I drop below that number, I find that survivability goes way down in fights. Basically I need enough to survive big alpha strikes. Everything else sort of morphs from that number depending on the build.
