Double S/D PvP Uncut #2
Jesus kitten Christ, this is what people call “skill” these days?
So, first of all, before we do anything else, remember that this is in hotjoin, not tPvP (which, if you couldn’t tell, is able to be seen by the number of people in the game.
0:12: Lays down a Shadow Refuge while the entire enemy team walks right past it. One warrior sees it, runs up and bashes him with her axe, and instead of thinking “OMG my chain just went to the second skill, somebody’s hiding there!” she just runs off to join her similarly stupid friends. Kill steal was pretty expectable at this point.
0:25: Randomly lays down a Shadow Return. Would have expected it to be used to condi cleanse or perhaps juke out opponents, but no, it was just randomly used.
0:38: Uhhhhhhhh…
1:18: Wastes a Shadow Refuge to stomp an opponent who was probably going to be screwed over anyways, and of course the engi rez’s either way. If nothing else, a CnD would have sufficed anyways.
1:27: CnD’s with Revealed still on… Nice.
1:32: Yeah, I have no idea if the game was just bugging out or his targeting sucked.
1:38: Finally uses CnD successfully on a downed opponent…! Damage kills him.
2:27: DAT CAMERA WUT
2:35: for the first time in the entire match, successfully stealth stomps a player using CnD.
2:42: “Unlucky”. Well, first of all, this is a relatively well-known bug that happens with pretty much all teleports. For example, go to the cannon area on Capricorn, then go to the lower level and try to Infi Strike an opponent on the platform above you. Sometimes it works, but today, after doing the same thing over and over and over again, if didn’t. Either way, why the kitten would you blow an infi signet just like that? Just another reason to use a Shortbow.
3:00: LOL. Teh skilz r strong in dis 1
And so on.
Don’t get me wrong, you’re not a bad player, per se… I’ve seen players echelons below you, who sucked so badly that they would have been better off just throwing Dancing Dagger for the entire game. But this build… This video is a perfect example of why it sucks. A lot. Hell, you could do the same damage with my 10/0/0/30/30 build with Zerker amulet easily, and with the same survivability, but you would probably play infinitely better than you did here. Even I with my standard build (10/0/0/30/30 w/ Soldier’s Amulet), which, supposedly, “doesn’t kill anything”, would have been far better off than you were in this video.
I’m glad that people copy other people’s builds off the internet and then call themselves champions, though. Heck, you even looked exactly like Jumper (or, at least, how he used to look; don’t know if anything’s changed).
Honestly, Arg.
Just because your thread wasn’t as well-received as you would have liked doesn’t mean you need to go off on people for using a build that you seem to think you have some E-Rivalry with. =/

What upsets me is that this video is passed for being “skill”. I’ve even spoken to one player in-game before who thought he was extremely skilled, and said that he played with “top players”. When I asked whom he was talking about, he mentioned Coloxeus here.
It’s not just the build that upsets me, but the fact that some people will go to the extent of calling this kind of play “skillful”, when all it is is a poorly played version of a build that everybody’s copied from the internet, and suddenly they all think they’re pros for it. On the other hand, I’ve seen thieves that many people have never even heard of, that have perfected their playstyles so much that they should easily be in a team in the top 1k, but aren’t because of silly little things like “rank”, or delusions about their builds being “subpar” when they’re actually completely and utterly brilliant.
It’s little things like this that really put me off.
I didn’t see the video being presented as an example of “champion” or even particularly skillful play, as you seem to think it was.
Hell, he even made a point of calling it Uncut, which suggests that he knows that this particular clip is pretty rough around the edges to begin with.
Ultimately you wouldn’t even have posted if he wasn’t playing the build that he’s playing. Just let the whole Jumper thing go, already.
Jealousy.. Maybe something more?

Yep, you guys got me now. I was hoping to keep it a secret, but I guess the secret’s out now.
What I’m wondering is, why would a player post a video like this if he/she didn’t want to show off their skill? It obviously wasn’t a tutorial, and it wouldn’t make sense if it was anyways, due to the guide that’s out there anyways.
And this isn’t the first video I’ve commented on it the past, showing off some build or playstyle. I’ve commented on videos ranging from anywhere between 0/20/30/20 WvW D/P builds to ones like this.
What I’m wondering is, why would a player post a video like this if he/she didn’t want to show off their skill?
Some people just like making videos. Some people just wanna try to share stuff with the community. Not everyone is out to create some E-Presence or something with their GW2 gameplay.
Honestly, Arg.

What? The guy linked a video. He didn’t say anything about how awesome he thought he was and unless I missed something in the video, he didn’t say that he was super awesome anywhere in there either.
Was it really necessary to tear into this guy just because he wanted to share his gameplay with the community?
Aggressively deconstructing anything in sight may be par for the course on the internet, but it’s still a pretty crappy thing to do. There are people behind these keyboards. =/
A lot of people, including myself, is interested in S/D builds, especially ones featuring quick pockets and acrobatics so I welcome this video. Thanks for op for posting it.
However, after trying it out, I found the build doesn’t suit my style. I love the shadow arts line too much. I’m currently running s/d + d/p. Love stealthing and chaining blind/daze with regen in stealth with crit backstabs/heartseekers doing tons of dmg.
hhmmm i think this build i used here is different 0/10/0/30/30
ah ok this is hot join… how about this? these are high tier PvPers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7moYkWLPK8
