Hey guys!
wanted to discuss a dual sword idea for thief’s
play style: dodgey, and timed burst (no stealth skills on weapon set)

first 2 skills are the same

3rd skill – 2 parts (3 initiative for first part and 2 initiative for second)
1st part- flip backward dodging attacks (regular dodge distance or half of the reg dodge distance)
2nd part- dash forward to target dealing damage; deal double ( or just higher damage) if a successful dodge.

  • also thinking it could be flip backwards dazing target and the do extra damage if you interrupt enemy with the dash*

4th skill- ( 4 initiative) slow ground smash with both swords (easy to dodge but if land does good damage like dragons tooth ( also invulnerable for half the duration of the skill but has an after cast)

5th skill- also 2 parts (6 initiative)
first- block attacks for 4.5 secs and charge energy
second- release stored energy
0 blocks- aoe blind and aegis
1 block- protection and retaliation
2 blocks- fury and 5 stacks of might
3 blocks- fury and 5 stacks of might
4 blocks- quickness 2-3 sec
5- blocks- all buffs and cure all condi ( lyssa runes 6 effect)
6- all debuffs applied to enemy
7-11 blocks- all buffs to self and all debuffs to enemy
12+ – full heal

  • idea is to be able keep track of all the blocks and use them accordingly to situation*

all ideas open to suggestions and tweaking

oh and stealth skill would be initiative regen thingy

Skill 3 is okay, I guess, but

4th skill- ( 4 initiative) slow ground smash with both swords (easy to dodge but if land does good damage like dragons tooth ( also invulnerable for half the duration of the skill but has an after cast)

This isn’t how swords work, beside that only the 3rd skill uses both weapons, and the
skill won’t ever be used, since it’s slow and roots you (I guess since your swords are
in the ground), also the rule of thief weaponsets is: Autoattack, 1 dmg thing, and
situational stuff/supportive stuff.

5th skill- also 2 parts (6 initiative)

This is op beyond anything the game has, since any other block skill just blocks,
and has a way longer CD than this.

I think the 4th skill feels a little too much like a warrior skill and not really a thief skill.
Also the 5th skill would be massively OP and the amount of QQ it would generate would be massive as almost every thief in wvwvw would jump into the middle of a zerg fight and hit 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 especially with one of the longest blocks in the game (not counting guardian aegis)!

i see what you guys saying with skill 4 and 5 hmm.. ill have to think a bit more guys have any suggestions?

i was thinking that the weapon should be very fast burst weapon like slowly tick the enemies health bar with fast attacks that to medium damage so has pretty much same time to kill has a dagger but just doesn’t have one attack that does its spike damage

i was hoping that this weapon would be very average until someone master the timing of the 3rd skill 4th and 5th skill ( something with a very high skillcap)

with the block i wanted something that could get us out of tough situations these set has no on weapon bar stealth, but still the block should be able to provide damage buff with care full timing.

for 4th skill i wanted another dodge skill really so it doesn’t fell like we are just spamming no. 3 ability all over again (main reason why i dont like daggers)

but i can also see a good situation skill be put into the 4th skill slot

4th skill could be like hit 3 times in quick succession initiative cost of 6

5th could be block 3 attacks and counter attack ( desencent damage maybe even torment) 6-7 initiative aswell

I don’t think we’ll ever get offhand sword because Main hand dagger + offhand sword would feel extremely odd and unbalanced.

Also, all skills except #3 for thief work with only the corresponding weapon. On that note, your skill #3 is practically identical the the ranger sword #2

And lastly, that #5 is insanely broken!
